Interrogating the intersections of food, journalism, and politics, this book offers a critical examination of food media and journalism, and its political potential against the backdrop of contemporary social challenges. Finalizando ya la segunda década del siglo XXI, las posibilidades de la Educación Mediática no solo no se han visto reducidas, superando debates que, posiblemente, no llevan hoy día a ninguna parte, sino que han determinado el crecimiento de este campo interdisciplinar, enriqueciendo sus opciones presentes y, sobre todo, su futuro. Innovar, adquirir competencias, aprender y enseñar, educar en todo lo relacionado con lo mediático y lo digital, es un reto urgente, una tarea imprescindible para construir un modelo educativo que mire a la realidad social.
La manera en que nombramos eso que les ocurre a los niños y adolescentes tiene sus consecuencias, en sus vidas y en nuestra posibilidad de interlocución con ellos. No es lo mismo definir su relación con los gadgets (pantallas, móviles, consolas) en términos de adicción que aludiendo al vínculo amoroso (que no excluye su dosis de patología) que mantienen con esos objetos. ¿Adictos que interactúan todo el tiempo con otros porque no les basta el objeto? Suena a paradoja. Proponemos suspender estos calificativos y sustituirlos por una pregunta: ¿son adictos o amantes? Eso nos ayudará a leer sus vidas con claves del siglo XXI y acoger la diversidad de situaciones que una rápida etiqueta (adictos) borra de un plumazo, como si todos los usos y todos los casos fueran iguales. El libro propone algunas estrategias para acompañarlos a modo de claves para una salud mental digital.
