Jelena Balšić e le donne nella cultura medievale serba
Jelena Balšić (1366/71-inizio 1443), principessa serba, fu governatrice, benefattrice e fondatrice di monasteri. Diede un importante contributo alla vita culturale della prima metà del XV secolo. Grazie a lei si sviluppò un piccolo centro spirituale e letterario nei monasteri del lago di Scutari, in cui si ritirò dopo una vita dinamica, fatta di guerre, viaggi, ma anche di lutti personali, dal momento che perse due mariti e l’unico figlio. Nella solitudine della sua fondazione si dedicò alle letture religiose e ai temi teologici. Con la sua attività, Jelena Balšić si dimostra rappresentante colta della società serba dell’epoca. Sono state conservate le sue lettere, il trattato di pace con Venezia, l’iscrizione dedicatoria e il testamento. La sua partecipazione alla vita pubblica, l’attività di benefattrice e il suo lavoro letterario, fanno sì che Jelena si aggiunga alla già sviluppata tradizione delle donne straordinarie dell’epoca medievale.

A Rocco Liguori, tenente dei carabinieri impegnato a risolvere semplici casi nella sonnacchiosa Alba, nel cuore delle Langhe, arriva inatteso un ordine dal Comando Generale: dovrà recarsi a L’Aja e mettersi a disposizione del Tribunale internazionale per la ex-Jugoslavia. Non ci vorrà molto a scoprirne il perché: il colonnello Dragojevic, condannato per la strage di Srebrenica e altri delitti, è in coma per aver ingerito farmaci pericolosi. Il procuratore Silvia Loconte non crede all’ipotesi del tentato suicidio e ha chiamato a indagare proprio lui, Liguori, che sette anni prima in Bosnia aveva arrestato Dragojevic. Promoting Heritage Language in Northwest Russia
This volume illustrates how language revival movements in Russia and elsewhere have often followed a specific pattern of literacy bias in the promotion of a minority’s heritage language, partly neglecting the social and relational aspects of orality. Using the Vepsian Renaissance as an example, this volume brings to the surface a literacy-orality dualism new to the discussion around revival movements. In addition to the more-theoretically oriented scopes, this book addresses all the actors involved in revival movements including activists, scholars and policy-makers, and opens a discussion on literacy and orality, and power and agency in the multiple relational aspects of written and oral practices. This study addresses issues common to language revival movements worldwide and will appeal to researchers of linguistic anthropology, sociolinguistics, education and language policy, and culture studies.
