Zbornik je nastal v počastitev visokega življenjskega jubileja enega nestorjev slovenske umetnostne zgodovine, dolgoletnega predstojnika umetnostnozgodovinskega inštituta ZRC SAZU in sedanjega predsednika inštitutskega znanstvenega sveta, akademika Emilijana Cevca.
