The Inner Circle is a fictional study of how profound differences in human character directly relate to our nation's contemporary culture, the intense division of thinking, the change in the middle class, and the movement of wealth to a select few. English is not the native language of the author, Miguel Estrada. Reason why he felt the need to write in simple, easy reading, English language, this mix of fiction / non-fiction, romantic, adventurous, book/novel. He bases the fiction part of his book in one of his many love songs hes written. Besides adding a little humor, he also explores how abandonment can sometimes haunt even the most successful among us. In the non-fiction part, he likes to share with the world all the struggles and adversities he endured growing up as a multi racial child in a small village of the Atlantic Coast of his native Panama, in Central America. And all the difficulties he went through as he hitchhiked his way from his country to The U.S, not knowing for sure where he was going, let alone the English language. He also speaks of the government corruption that goes on in his country and many other third world countries. Which compelled him to leave home in search of a better life for him and his family. He also emphasizes a great deal of gratitude, throughout his book. But most of all, he emphasizes gratitude through the whole book.

From the award-winning author of Paradise Boys, Scotch and Oranges, Ghost Dancer, and End of the Road, comes the startling, visionary The Oakland Quartet. Set in Oakland, a working-class American-Irish neighborhood of steel mills and saloons, the novel, set in 1958, chronicles four teenaged baseball players -- Stash and Nig, Mongol and Whitey, the slickest-fielding infield the city had ever seen -- who, on a hot, sulfurous night, commit an unspeakable crime -- and must live with its consequences. Supported by a stellar cast of barkeeps, city councilmen, neighborhood enforcers, and Catholic priests -- as well as such historic figures as Mayor David Lawrence, baseball Hall of Famer Pie Traynor, and many more -- the Oakland Quartet make a decision that will ultimately ruin their lives. Narrated by Beef, their former teammate and catcher, The Oakland Quartet closely examines these small, stunted lives -- while their priest, Father David Reddy, searches to save those who have who have lost their way.
