Chlamydia pneumoniae and Chronic Diseases
International specialists in Microbiology, Infectious Diseases, Internal Medicine, Cardiology Immunology, Pneumonology, Neurology and Epidemiology gathered to this workshop to discuss and enhance interdisciplinary knowledge on the possible etiological role of Chlamydia pneumoniae, a widespread human respiratory infection, in the pathogenesis of chronic inflammatory diseases with major public health impact such as atherosclerosis, cardiovascular disease, adult-onset asthma bronchiale, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, reactive arthritis, morbus Alzheimer and multiple sclerosis. Current deficits and goals in the standardisation of diagnostic tools, basic and applied research, design of epidemiological and monitoring of therapy studies were identified. A special feature of this book is the comprehensive collection of state-of-the-art review articles in the various fields with many references.

NSA existed as a printed product (Volumes 1-33) initially, created by DOE's predecessor, the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission (AEC). NSA includes citations to scientific and technical reports from the AEC, the U.S. Energy Research and Development Administration and its contractors, plus other agencies and international organizations, universities, and industrial and research organizations. References to books, conference proceedings, papers, patents, dissertations, engineering drawings, and journal articles from worldwide sources are also included. Strategies of Immune Regulation
Strategies of Immune Regulation provides an overview of the state of knowledge on how immune regulation works. Many working scientists have taken the time to set down their views in one of two categories: (a) ""conventional"" short papers with standard documentation, (b) short expressions of opinion, with or without references. It is hoped that this book will act as a jumping-off point for new young workers, entering the field, who will ultimately fashion the next paradigm. The book contains 94 chapters organized into two sections. Section I begins with discussions of the general regulatory features of the immune systems. This is followed by papers on the role of the major histocompatibility complex and regulation involving the antibody molecules. The contributions in Section II cover the organization of Ig genes; antibody diversity and the development of the immune repertoire; MHC restriction; lymphocyte interactions and regulatory targets; role of the Ig receptor in triggering; function of IgD; lymphocyte maturation; idiotype regulation; and control of antiself reactions.

1. Die Zahl AIDS-erkrankter Drogenabhängiger nimmt ständig zu und wird in den nächsten Jahren auch größenordnungsmäßig noch steigen. Progression der HIV-Infektion und klinische Bilder entsprechen denen 2. anderer betroffener Gruppen. Kaposi-Sarkom kommt allerdings kaum vor. Bei HIV-infizierten Drogenabhängigen ist mit gehäuftem Auftreten von 3. bakteriellen Pneumonien, Sepsis, Endocarditis und Lungentuberkulose vor der eigentlichen AIDS-Manifestation zu rechnen. Sucht ist eine Krankheit mit spezifischen Ausprägungen, die man kennen 4. und berücksichtigen sollte. Prinzipielles Wohlwollen ist gegenüber Dro genabhängigen angebracht-aber kein leichtfertiges Vertrauen. 5.
