Poetry. John Amen's ILLUSION OF AN OVERWHELM offers four distinct series: Hallelujah Anima, in which the poet explores desire, self- inquiry, and ambivalence, as well as the torturous journey of inner healing; The American Myths, highlighting the intersections between politics, religion, and archetypal dynamics, inspired in part by Black Lives Matter and other progressive forms of populism; My Gallery Days, which focuses on multiple characters and overlapping narratives, offering poetic commentaries on art and the fleeting nature of life; and Portrait of Us, the poet's celebration of enduring love and romance, presented from multiple viewpoints and timeframes. While covering wide ground them...

This is a brutally realistic book of poetry. By immersing himself in the particular details of his most meaningful moments, John Amen transforms hurt into poems that are both imaginative and lyrically expressive. With metaphoric daring and off-beat grace, he guides us through haunting and sometimes violent memories of roving through America's southland. Includes the 260 line poem-sequence "Portraits of Mary", hailed by poet Jared Smith as "perhaps the most complex, intricate, and thoroughly honest love poem in all of contemporary poetry". A thoroughly human book of memorable poems of great intensity by one of our best younger poets.

Poetry. John Amen's STRANGE THEATER takes the reader on a multifaceted journey, each poem a puzzle piece in a mysterious drama, a view onto a stage where dialogues and narratives shuffle and rotate, where characters improvise insights that blur the boundary between horror and the absurd. Offering a unique vision of contemporary life, Amen is a Virgil of sorts, navigating the unknown, plumbing the conscious and unconscious alike. Replete with compelling imagery and frequently shocking proclamations, strange theater imprints itself on the psyche, Amen's voice continuing to resound long after the final poem is read.

Poetry. THE NEW ARCANA is a multi-genre extravaganza featuring verse, fiction, mock journalism and academic writing, drama, and art. Both referencing and transcending various literary precedents, the book is a pronouncement for the 21st Century, an exploration of and commentary on the fast-paced and mercurial nature of life in the 2000s. Co-written by poets John Amen and Daniel Y. Harris, the book presents a compelling, jazz-like, and satirical style, a third voice born from the mingling of two distinct individual voices. THE NEW ARCANA is a memorable literary statement—a manifesto for our time—as well as a proclamation regarding the transformative qualities of true collaboration.

These poems address a variety of dark issues, including childhood abuse, addiction, mental illness, and suicide. The speaker plunges into his own painful history -- replete with allusions to familial and romantic dysfunctions, as well as struggles with alcohol and drugs -- and, in so doing, invites the reader to accompany him, to be both a witness and revisit the unhealed parts of his or her own life. Through immersing himself in the grief that his descent facilitates, the speaker initiates a process of personal integration, a process of voicing and, thereby, acknowledging the repugnant and debilitating aspects of his story. The speaker visits and submerges himself in the reality of his own ...

Sacred Words of the Lord of Creation, Amen-Ra, Revised 2012 Edition

Book is a totally revised edition of an original book first published in 2008 about the faith Jesus Christ or "Yeshua," taught connecting him to the ancient Amen faith of the New Kingdom dynasties, not of the Hebrew faith, but the "Egyptian" one. Many things Jesus said are not found within the Jewish words, but oddly enough, "are" found within the ancient Egyptian sacred books. More is added to this revised version than the original, including a more intense formatting of the original by my wife, and "editor."

Book is written for Disciples of Yeshua according to the faith he taught "prior" to the Roman Empire and it's Church making the faith into the Judeo-Christian belief. Within the book is all the links Yeshua (Jesus) stated while on earth according to the ancient faith in Amen-Ra that he taught his Apostles and Disciples. Doctrines are set to the Syro-Chaldaic works of Levi (Matthew) and not later Hebrew and Greek mistranslations. These are the truths given by Yeshua, and the faith of Amen in heaven who is not this "God of Wrath" of the world.
