John Ayliffe of Blandford Forum, Dorset was charged with defrauding Henry Fox of land and property with a forged deed. He was tried in October 1759, found guilty and executed in November. The court also ordered that his family pay Henry Fox and his heirs 5 pounds per year for the next 99 years. This publication consists of letters sent to various people by Thomas Bonnell, a lawyer, in support of John Ayliffe and his family prior to, and after the trial and execution.
