The International Conference on Intelligent Computing (ICIC) was formed to provide an annual forum dedicated to the emerging and challenging topics in artificial intel- gence, machine learning, pattern recognition, image processing, bioinformatics, and computational biology. It aims to bring together researchers and practitioners from both academia and industry to share ideas, problems, and solutions related to the m- tifaceted aspects of intelligent computing. ICIC 2010, held in Changsha, China, August 18–21, 2010, constituted the 6th - ternational Conference on Intelligent Computing. It built upon the success of ICIC 2009, ICIC 2008, ICIC 2007, ICIC 2006, and ICIC 2005, that were held in...
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 6th International Conference on Intelligent Computing, ICIC 2010, held in Changsha, China, in August 2010. The 85 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from a numerous submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on neural networks, evolutionary learning & genetic algorithms, fuzzy theory and models, fuzzy systems and soft computing, particle swarm optimization and niche technology, supervised & semi-supervised learning, unsupervised & reinforcement learning, combinatorial & numerical optimization, systems biology and computational biology, neural computing and optimization, nature inspired comput...
As the aging population degree is deepened, cognitive impairment has become a globally recognized public health problem. As an intermediate state from normal cognition (NC) to Alzheimer's disease (AD), mild cognitive impairment (MCI) has a highly variable cognitive trajectory, which contains three outcomes: 1) progression to AD and other types of dementia; 2) Maintaining stability; 3) Reversal to NC. Reversal of cognitive function can be achieved by taking positive and effective measures. Current studies mostly focus on factors affecting MCI to AD. World Health Organization and Alzheimer’s Disease International have also proposed relatively mature guidelines for risk factors. However, ther...
While the PSE community continues its focus on understanding, synthesizing, modeling, designing, simulating, analyzing, diagnosing, operating, controlling, managing, and optimizing a host of chemical and related industries using the systems approach, the boundaries of PSE research have expanded considerably over the years. While early PSE research was largely concerned with individual units and plants, the current research spans wide ranges of scales in size (molecules to processing units to plants to global multinational enterprises to global supply chain networks; biological cells to ecological webs) and time (instantaneous molecular interactions to months of plant operation to years of st...
With contributions from experts from both the industry and academia, this book presents the latest developments in the identified areas. In addition, a thorough and updated coverage of the traditional aspects of heterogeneous catalysis such as preparation, characterization and use in well-established technologies such as nitration, ammoxidation and hydrofluorination is included. This book incorporates appropriate case studies, explanatory notes, and schematics for more clarity and better understanding.
This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-conference proceedings of the International Conference on Information Networking, ICOIN 2007, held in Estoril, Portugal, in January 2007. The 82 revised full papers included in the volume were carefully selected and improved during two rounds of reviewing and revision from a total of 302 submissions. Topics covered include sensor networks; ad-hoc, mobile and wireless networks; optical networks; peer-to-peer networks and systems; routing; transport protocols; quality of service; network design and capacity planning; resource management; performance monitoring; network management; next generation Internet; and networked applications and services.
“Bioprocessing in Food Science” is a series of volumes covering the entirety of unit operations in food processing. This latest volume disseminates the recent advances, breakthroughs, and challenges of the valorization of fruit and vegetable industry waste. Numerous researchers have studied fruit and vegetable processing and waste valorization in general, but there is little work available to scientists and engineers regarding real-world solutions to practical everyday problems in this industry. The knowledge has to be made available in book format to facilitate academia, researchers, and the food manufacturing industry to utilize waste for extraction of valuable polysaccharides, additiv...
