This monograph presents recent developments in spectral conditions for the existence of periodic and almost periodic solutions of inhomogenous equations in Banach Spaces. Many of the results represent significant advances in this area. In particular, the authors systematically present a new approach based on the so-called evolution semigroups with an original decomposition technique. The book also extends classical techniques, such as fixed points and stability methods, to abstract functional differential equations with applications to partial functional differential equations. Almost Periodic Solutions of Differential Equations in Banach Spaces will appeal to anyone working in mathematical analysis.
These Proceedings comprise the bulk of the papers presented at the Inter national Conference on Semigroups of Opemtors: Theory and Contro~ held 14-18 December 1998, Newport Beach, California, U.S.A. The intent of the Conference was to highlight recent advances in the the ory of Semigroups of Operators which provides the abstract framework for the time-domain solutions of time-invariant boundary-value/initial-value problems of partial differential equations. There is of course a firewall between the ab stract theory and the applications and one of the Conference aims was to bring together both in the hope that it may be of value to both communities. In these days when all scientific activity is judged by its value on "dot com" it is not surprising that mathematical analysis that holds no promise of an immediate commercial product-line, or even a software tool-box, is not high in research priority. We are particularly pleased therefore that the National Science Foundation provided generous financial support without which this Conference would have been impossible to organize. Our special thanks to Dr. Kishan Baheti, Program Manager.
Nonlinear systems with random structures arise quite frequently as mathematical models in diverse disciplines. This monograph presents a systematic treatment of stability theory and the theory of stabilization of nonlinear systems with random structure in terms of new developments in the direct Lyapunov's method. The analysis focuses on dynamic sys
A Kim Jong-Il Production by Paul Fischer - love, films and kidnapping in North Korea, the world's wildest regime Before becoming the world's most notorious dictator, Kim Jong-Il ran North Korea's film industry. He directed every film made in the country but knew they were nothing compared to Hollywood. Then he hit on the perfect solution: order the kidnapping of South Korea's most famous actress and her ex-husband, the country's most acclaimed director. In a jaw-dropping mission the couple were kidnapped, held hostage and then 'employed' to make films for the Dear Leader, including a remake of Godzilla. They gained Kim's trust - but could they escape? A non-fiction thriller with a plot so ja...
The 11th International Workshop on Dynamics and Control brought together scientists and engineers from diverse fields and gave them a venue to develop a greater understanding of this discipline and how it relates to many areas in science, engineering, economics, and biology. The event gave researchers an opportunity to investigate ideas and techniq

This is the incredible story of Shin Dong-hyuk – the only person born in a North Korean gulag ever to escape. A gripping, terrifying biography, Escape from Camp 14 by journalist Blaine Harden uncovers a dark and secret nation. Now a major documentary film. 'This is a story unlike any other' - Barbara Demick, author of Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea. Twenty-seven years ago, Shin Dong-hyuk was born inside Camp 14, one of five sprawling political prisons in the mountains of North Korea. Located about fifty-five miles north of Pyongyang, the labour camp is a 'complete control district' – a no-exit prison where the only sentence is life. No one born in Camp 14 or in any North Korean political prison camp has escaped. No one except Shin. This is his story . .
Functional equations encompass most of the equations used in applied science and engineering: ordinary differential equations, integral equations of the Volterra type, equations with delayed argument, and integro-differential equations of the Volterra type. The basic theory of functional equations includes functional differential equations with cau
