A primeira, «contributos da investigação para o conhecimento da temática imigração e saúde», composta por artigos originais resultantes predominantemente de investigações científicas, pretende contribuir para aprofundar a fundamentação teórica e a evidência científica nesta matéria. A segunda parte, denominada «programas e referências de boas práticas que promovem a melhoria da saúde dos imigrantes», apresenta trabalhos que não têm como objecto a migração e saúde numa perspectiva de investigação, mas constituem um pano de fundo imprescindível para a compreensão holística desta temática. Estes contributos descrevem a experiência prática de quem trabalha no terreno com comunidades imigrantes e resume as dificuldades e oportunidades inerentes a esse trabalho, perspectiva extremamente importante na temática abordada por este número da revista.
