Comprehensive Organic Functional Group Transformations II (COFGT-II) will provide the first point of entry to the literature for all scientists interested in chemical transformations. Presenting the vast subject of organic synthesis in terms of the introduction and interconversion of all known functional groups, COFGT-II provides a unique information source documenting all methods of efficiently performing a particular transformation. Organised by the functional group formed, COFGT-II consists of 144 specialist reviews, written by leading scientists who evaluate and summarise the methods available for each functional group transformation. Also available online via ScienceDirect – featuring...

Advances in Heterocyclic Chemistry

Established in 1960, Advances in Heterocyclic Chemistry is the definitive serial in the area--one of great importance to organic chemists, polymer chemists, and many biological scientists. Every fifth volume ofAdvances in Heterocyclic Chemistry contains a cumulative subject index. A selection of topics covered in Volume 62 Synthesis possibilities in N-Fluoropyridinium salts An updated review of Pyran Chemistry The organic chemistry and synthesis of Tetrathia- and tetraselena-fulvalenes A review of the classes of five-membered heterocyclic rings containing two sulfur and two nitrogen atoms, both as anionic and radical species

Photochemistry

This annual review, the 50th volume in the series, provides critical analysis for anyone wanting to keep up to date with the literature on photochemistry and its applications. This essential volume combines reviews on the latest advances in photochemical research with specific topical highlights in the field. The volume starts with periodical reports of the recent literature on organic and computational aspects, including computational advances in photochemistry, chemiluminescence and dark photochemistry, organic aspects of photochemistry of alkenes, dienes and polyenes, aromatic compounds, oxygen-containing functions and those functions containing other heteroatoms, and finally a chapter on...

The Chemistry of Heterocycles

Current Trends in Organic Synthesis

The last two decades have seen a rapid growth in the synthetic processing of both simple and complex molecules, aimed at meeting the needs of society in all aspects of life. Many efforts have been devoted to the development of new biologically active compounds, new materials with innovative properties such as bio-compatibility, new catalysts that allow highly selective transformations, and technologies that facilitate the synthetic pro cesses. This book is a compendium of recent progress in all these aspects of synthetic chemistry. It collects the lectures of the XII International Conference on Organic Synthesis, held in Venice from June 28 to July 2, 1998, in which the present state of art ...

Organic Synthesis

Organic synthesis is a vibrant and rapidly evolving field; we can now cyclize amines directly onto alkenes. Like the first two books in this series, Organic Synthesis: State of the Art 2003-2005 and Organic Synthesis: State of the Art 2005-2007, this reference leads readers quickly to the most important recent developments. Two years of Taber's popular weekly online column, "Organic Chemistry Highlights", as featured on the organic-chemistry.org website, are consolidated here, with cumulative indices of all three volumes in this series. Important topics that are covered range from powerful new methods for C-C bond construction to asymmetric organocatalysis and direct C-H functionalization. This go-to reference focuses on the most important recent developments in organic synthesis, and includes a succinct analysis of the significance and applicability of each new synthetic method. It details and analyzes more than twenty complex total syntheses, including the Sammakia synthesis of the Macrolide RK-397, the Ley synthesis of Rapamycin, and the Kobayashi synthesis of (-)-Norzoanthamine.

A vast range of different functional groups is potentially available from the attachment of three or four heteroatoms to carbon. Some of these are abundantly represented in the literature, others are rare, and many have yet to be described. The aim of this volume is to describe the synthesis of examples of known functional groups and to highlight those that are little known or unknown. All possible combinations of heteroatoms have been surveyed, with the exception of complexes in which carbon atoms are bonded only to transition elements. The material is organised in four parts: tetracoordinated carbon atoms bearing three attached heteroatoms are covered in Part 1, and those bearing four heteroatoms in Part II; the synthesis of tricoordinated carbon atoms with three attached heteroatoms is described in Part III; stabilized radicals and carbocations with three attached heteroatoms are covered briefly in Part IV.
