This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 10th Iberoamerican Congress on Pattern Recognition, CIARP 2005, held in Havana, Cuba in November 2005. The 107 revised full papers presented together with 3 keynote articles were carefully reviewed and selected from more than 200 submissions. The papers cover ongoing research and mathematical methods for pattern recognition, image analysis, and applications in such diverse areas as computer vision, robotics, industry, health, entertainment, space exploration, telecommunications, data mining, document analysis, and natural language processing and recognition.
FST TCS 2002: Foundations of Software Technology and Theoretical Computer Science
This volume consists of the proceedings of the 22nd International Conference on the Foundations of Software Technology and Theoretical Computer Science (FSTTCS 2002), organized under the auspices of the Indian Association for Research in Computing Science (IARCS). The conference was held at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur during December 12–14, 2002. The conference attracted 108 submissions (of which two were withdrawn). Membrane Computing
This book contains revised selected papers from the 18th International Conference on Membrane Computing, CMC 2017, held in Bradford, UK, in July 2017. The 18 full papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 29 submissions. They deal with membrane computing (P systems theory), an area of computer science aiming to abstract computing ideas and models from the structure and the functioning of living cells, as well as from the way the cells are organized in tissues or higher order structures. New Challenges on Bioinspired Applications
The two volumes, LNCS 6686 resp. LNCS 6687, constitute the refereed proceedings of the 4th International Work-Conference on the Interplay between Natural and Artificial Computation, IWINAC 2011, held in La Palma, Canary Islands, Spain, in May/June 2011. The 108 revised full papers presented in LNCS 6686 resp. LNCS 6687 were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. The first part, LNCS 6686, entitled "Foundations on Natural and Artificial Computation", includes all the contributions mainly related to the methodological, conceptual, formal, and experimental developments in the fields of neurophysiology and cognitive science. The second part, LNCS 6687, entitled "New Challenges on Bioinspired Applications", contains the papers related to bioinspired programming strategies and all the contributions related to the computational solutions to engineering problems in different application domains, specially Health applications, including the CYTED ``Artificial and Natural Computation for Health'' (CANS) research network papers.
Italian Sword and Sandal Films, 1908-1990
Produced in Italy from the turn of the 20th century, "sword and sandal" or peplum films were well received in the silent era and attained great popularity in the 1960s following the release of Hercules (1959), starring Mr. Universe Steve Reeves. A global craze for Bronze Age fantasy-adventures ensued and the heroic exploits of Hercules, Maciste, Samson and Goliath were soon a mainstay of American drive-ins and second-run theaters (though mainly disparaged by critics). By 1965, the genre was eclipsed by the spaghetti western, yet the 1960s peplum canon continues to inspire Hollywood epics. This filmography provides credits, cast and comments for dozens of films from 1908 through 1990.

Membrane Computing
This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed extended postproceedings of the 6th International Workshop on Membrane Computing, WMC 2005, held in Vienna, Austria, in July 2005. The 20 revised full papers presented together with 5 invited papers went through two rounds of reviewing and improvement. The papers in this volume cover all the main directions of research in membrane computing, ranging from theoretical topics in mathematics and computer science, to application issues, especially in biology. More specifically, these papers present research on topics such as: computational power and complexity classes, new types of P systems, relationships to Petri nets, quantum computing, and brane calculi, determinism vs. nondeterminism, hierarchies, the size of small families, algebraic approaches, and designing polynomial solutions to NP-complete problems through the use of membrane systems.

Development in Language Theory
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 15th International Conference on Developments in Language Theory, DLT 2011, held in Milano, Italy, in July 2011. The 34 regular papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions.
