Joachim Ketel III (d.1682) moved from Mechlenburg in Germany to Amsterdam, Holland, and in 1642 he immigrated to New Amsterdam, New York. He received land in Albany, and married Anna Douw. They had eight children. Descendants and relatives lived in New York, Massachusetts, Washington, D.C. and elsewhere. Includes three generations of ancestors in Germany before Joachim III, and other Viking ancestors in the Shetlands, Orkneys and Hebrides (islands off the western coast of Scotland) to the ninth century.
