The Classical Animated Documentary and Its Contemporary Evolution is the first book to provide an historical insight into the animated documentary. Drawing on archival research and textual analysis, it shows how this form, usually believed to be strictly contemporaneous, instead took shape in the 1940s. Cristina Formenti integrates a theoretical and a historical approach in order to shed new light on the animated documentary as a form as well as on the work of renowned studios such as The Walt Disney Studios, Halas & Batchelor, National Film Board of Canada and never before addressed ones, such as Corona Cinematografica. She also highlights the differences and the similarities existing among the animated documentaries created between the 1940s and the mid-1980s and those produced today so as to demonstrate how the latter do not represent a complete otherness in respect to the former, but rather an evolution.

En 2002, un grupo de profesores de semiótica del departamento de Humanidades de la Universidad de Bogotá Jorge Tadeo Lozano empezó a conformar un grupo de estudio dedicado a analizar diferentes facetas de la denominada ciencia de los signos . Las diferentes discusiones que allí se presentaron, en un principio de orden pedagógico siempre apremiantes al interior de una institución educativa y de unidad de lecturas en las asignaturas, llevaron a la decisión de traducir el Manual de semiótica general de Jean Marie Klinkenberg (2006); pero, además, dieron origen a la idea de sacar a la luz pública algunas de las reflexiones que, desde diferentes miradas e intereses, allí se tenían. El presente volumen es el primer resultado de esa idea germinal y con él se inaugura la Colección semiótica , que se encargará de publicar ensayos originales y traducciones de autores reconocidos en el ámbito internacional, sobre los problemas, que puedan constituirse en un aporte a los estudios semióticos.

La integración conceptual es una operación mental básica, en virtud de la cual se crea una red de espacios mentales que están relacionados de varios modos. Uno o más de estos espacios mentales en este tipo de red es un híbrido, amalgama, o mezcla, en inglés blend. El blend recibe estructura parcial de algunos de los otros espacios en la red y desarrolla su propia estructura nueva. Varias especies de mamíferos parecen tener la facultad de hacer integración conceptual rudimentaria. Los seres humanos tienen la capacidad de hacer integración conceptual avanzada. La integración conceptual avanzada permite integrar espacios mentales que se hallan en fuerte conflicto entre sí.
