Sprawdzamy, w co obracają się sielankowe dni zakochanych, kiedy uczucie – dotąd wydające się tak piękne, że wręcz niemożliwe do zniszczenia – zostaje wystawione na ciężką próbę. Do trudnej miłości dodajemy szczyptę żywego ognia i garści arktycznych mrozów. Na płytkach wyobraźni rozkładamy ją na chemiczne czynniki pierwsze, po czym składamy z powrotem w całość. Szczujemy ją dzikimi bestiami. Próbujemy zniewolić osiągnięciami technologii i magii. Bez skrępowania testujemy wytrzymałość duszy na ból, a upadki naszych bohaterów są zjawiskowe niczym fajerwerki. Wszystko to, by się przekonać, czy mimo wszystko – mimo łez, dramatów i rozgoryczeń – było warto. Dwie antologie i dwadzieścia dwa opowiadania później odpowiedź nadal nie jest dla nas oczywista.
