Podcasting

Podcasting: A Practical Guide guides librarians through the process of creating a podcast. It will help librarians digitally record their podcasts, which can highlight library collections, connect with patrons, provide library instruction, and market library services across the Internet. Highlights include Step-by-step guidance for how to record a podcast specifically tailored for libraries and librarians. Specifications on what kind of equipment, software, and hardware, is necessary to record their own episodes. Pre-production techniques including script writing, storyboard creation, and how to find guests will be explored. Coverage of the post-production stage including, audio editing, incorporating music and effects, and mixing episodes down for distribution, will be explored. Resources for help with on marketing the podcast, using freely available and Creative Commons media to enhance episodes, privacy issues related to the medium, and making content accessible.

Principles of Tidal Sedimentology

This book presents a comprehensive, contemporary review of tidal environments and deposits. Individual chapters, each written by world-class experts, cover the full spectrum of coastal, shallow-marine and even deep-marine settings where tidal action influences or controls sediment movement and deposition. Both siliciclastic and carbonate deposits are covered. Various chapters examine the dynamics of sediment transport by tides, and the morphodynamics of tidal systems. Several chapters explore the occurrence of tidal deposits in the stratigraphic context of entire sedimentary basins. This book is essential reading for both coastal geologists and managers, and geologists interested in extracting hydrocarbons from complex tidal successions.

This study was designed to examine the relationship among channel area, tidal period, tidal prism, and maximum channel velocity. Movable-bed model experiments were run to define an equilibrium area for different tidal periods and sediments. The magnitude of the areas measured provided additional data for the relationship of the tidal prism versus minimum channel area in a size range slightly larger than previous laboratory data in the continuum to very large field inlets. These data may help define the tidal prism-minimum channel cross-sectional area relationship in the midrange channel size.

Efforts to direct the recovery of damaged sites and landscape date back as far as the 1930s. If we fully understood the conditions and controlling variables at restoration sites, we would be better equipped to predict the outcomes of restoration efforts. If there were no constraints, we could merely plant the restoration site and walk away. However

Sedimentology of Paralic Reservoirs

Sedimentology of Paralic Reservoirs

Paralic reservoirs reflect a range of depositional environments including deltas, shoreline–shelf systems and estuaries. They provide the backbone of production in many mature basins, and contribute significantly to global conventional hydrocarbon production. However, the range of environments, together with relative sea-level and sediment supply changes, result in significant variability in their stratigraphic architecture and sedimentological heterogeneity, which translates into complex patterns of reservoir distribution and production that are challenging to predict, optimize and manage. This volume presents new research and developments in established approaches to the exploration and ...
