Sie geht der Frage nach, welchen Anteil die nationalsozialistischen Propagandaversammlungen an den Wahlerfolgen der NSDAP hatten. Ein zentrales Ergebnis ist, daß die nationalsozialistische Versammlungspropaganda in beachtlicher Weise zu den Stimmengewinnen der NSDAP beitrug. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit findet dabei die Gruppe rechter, nationalistischer Wähler; auf sie wirkten die NSDAP-Versammlungen offenbar in einem überdurchschnittlich hohen Maße.

Germany and the Confessional Divide
From German unification in 1871 through the early 1960s, confessional tensions between Catholics and Protestants were a source of deep division in German society. Engaging this period of historic strife, Germany and the Confessional Divide focuses on three traumatic episodes: the Kulturkampf waged against the Catholic Church in the 1870s, the collapse of the Hohenzollern monarchy and state-supported Protestantism after World War I, and the Nazi persecution of the churches. It argues that memories of these traumatic experiences regularly reignited confessional tensions. Only as German society became increasingly secular did these memories fade and tensions ease.

The Formation of the Nazi Constituency 1919-1933 (RLE Nazi Germany & Holocaust)
In the years preceding publication of this book in 1986 much progress was made in identifying the social sources of support for Hitler’s NSDAP and in determining the tactics employed by the party to mobilise its constituency at grass roots level. It has emerged that the Nazi’s roots were far more diverse than previously assumed, extending beyond the lower middle class to encompass both the affluent bourgeoisie and the working class. This book collects together original studies which represent a distillation of some of the contemporaneous research.
