The Symposium ranges from the development of the separation technique to the future of analytical chemistry. The presentations in this proceedings volume are grouped into one lecture session and ten discussion sessions: Chemometrics & Computational Chemistry in Separation Science; Diagnosis by Clinical Trace Analysis (Biomedical Analysis, Drug Metabolism); Development of Packing Materials and Capillary Columns; Analytical Methods in Biotechnology, Carbohydrate Chemistry, Protein and Peptide Chemistry, Nucleic Acid Chemistry and Lipid Chemistry; Electromigration Methods and Applications; Answering Questions of Pharmaceutical Analysis, Environmental Analysis, Food Analysis and Industrial Analysis; Chemistry of Stationery Phase; Development of Analytical Methods Based on Molecular Recognition; Optimization of Separation; and Advances in Instruments.
"Volume 36 examines timely subjects such as multilinear regression, canonical correlation, and facor and principal component methods of analysis in the evaluation of retention data matrices, molecular recognition mechanisms in the liquid chromatographic separation of fullerenes, the latest techniques in the use of capillary electrophoresis and mass spectrometry for sequencing antisense oligonucleotides, and more."
The field of nanoscience was pioneered in the 1980s with the groundbreaking research on clusters, which later led to the discovery of fullerenes. Handbook of Nanophysics: Clusters and Fullerenes focuses on the fundamental physics of these nanoscale materials and structures. Each peer-reviewed chapter contains a broad-based introduction and enhances
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are the first type of chemicals that were ever discovered to cause cancer in humans. They are found in cigarette smoke, in barbecued and smoked foods, in automobile and Diesel engine exhaust, fireplace smoke, and many other common things that people are exposed to. Analyzing for PAHs in the environment is important in identifying potential sources of cancer exposure and eliminating these as risks. The smaller PAHs, those of lower than 300 molecular weight, have been the most studied and have also been covered in several books. No books have dealt with the analysis of the larger PAHs. These compounds are not only important for the health concerns, but they are also of current technological and scientific interest.
The Advances in Chromatography series provides the most up-to-date information on a wide range of developments in chromatographic methods and applications. This is Volume 30 and looks at Selectivity and Retention, originally published in 1989.
This book brings together a number of studies which examine the ways in which the retention and selectivity of separations in high-performance liquid chromatography are dependent on the chemical structure of the analytes and the properties of the stationary and mobile phases. Although previous authors have described the optimisation of separations by alteration of the mobile phase, little emphasis has previously been reported of the influence of the structure and properties of the analyte. The initial chapters describe methods based on retention index group increments and log P increments for the prediction of the retention of analytes and the ways in which these factors are influenced by mob...
Drug Monitoring and Clinical Chemistry, the 5th volume in the Handbook of Analytical Separations series, gives an overview about methods to analyse drugs in biological fluids. The most widely used methods to analyse drugs in biological fluids. i.e. chromatographic methods, CE and immunoassays are described in detail. For important drugs, an overview about the methods available and a comparison of the techniques should be given to enable the reader to choose the right method depending on laboratory equipment, staff, the aim of the investigation etc. Other general aspects important for conducting therapeutic drug monitoring or pharmacokinetics studies are also covered, i.e. sample preparation,...
A Century of Separation Science presents an extensive overview of the critical developments in separation science since 1900, covering recent advances in chromatography, electrophoresis, field-flow fractionation, countercurrent chromatography, and supercritical fluid chromatography for high-speed and high-throughput analysis.
TRAC: Trends in Analytical Chemistry, Volume 11 presents relevant topics in global analytical chemistry research. This book discusses the fundamental principle of competitive immunoassays. Organized into 27 chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the general and important contributions relating to the presentation of forensic evidence to courts of law. This text then discusses the importance of the analysis of scanned measuring quantities. Other chapters consider the advantages as well as the drawbacks of coupled chromatographic methods. This book discusses as well the status of analytical chemistry within the broader scientific arena as a practical rather than fundamentally oriented discipline. The final chapter deals with the properly functioning process control system in manufacturing insulin by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP–HPLC). This book is a valuable resource for analytical, organic, clinical, and regulatory chemists. Electrochemists, scientists, students, engineers, researcher workers, and other practitioners will also find this book extremely useful.
