I dag er det et fåtal af danskerne, som er medlem af et politisk parti. Som 43-årig satte bogens forfatter sig for at finde sit politiske ståsted og blive medlem af et politisk parti. I november 2021 indledte hun derfor sin politiske dannelsesrejse. Hun gik i gang fra en ende af med at lytte til bøger, læse nyhedsartikler og deltage i politiske møder. Denne bog rummer noter fra månederne, der fulgte. De blev oprindelig udgivet som blogindlæg på forfatterens tredje blog, Der dukker af disen. Bogen rummer også en lokalhistorisk artikel om den lille sydvestlollandske landsby, Alminde. Artiklen blev oprindelig udgivet i Lolland-Falsters Historiske Samfunds årbog 2022. Bogen er illustreret med fotos fra forfatterens hverdagsliv på det sydvestlige Lolland.
