A Child in Ruins
This book is a selection from the three books that I published so far. 'A Child in Ruins' is the title of the first of these books. A Crianca em Ruinas (A Child in Ruins), first published in 2001 A Casa, a Escuridao (The House, the Darkness), first published in 2002 Gaveta de Papeis (Drawer of Papers), first published in 2008 The selection of the poems was made by me with some suggestions by Hugo. 'A Child in Ruins' was awarded the Award of the Portuguese Society of Authors for the best poetry book of that year. 'Gaveta de Papeis' was awarded the Daniel Faria Award for poetry. This is the first time 'A Child in Ruins' has been translated into English."

RNA Diseases in Humans – From Fundamental Research to Therapeutic Applications
This Research Topic addresses the human diseases caused by a malfunction of the RNA metabolism. We aim at strengthening the link between fundamental research and therapeutic applications. In eukaryotes, RNA is transcribed from genomic DNA. RNA molecules undergo multiple post-transcriptional processes such as splicing, editing, modification, translation, and degradation. A defect, mis-regulation, or malfunction of these processes often results in diseases in humans, referred to as 'RNA diseases'. There is an increasing number of studies focused on RNA diseases, which are aimed at uncovering the fundamental molecular mechanisms at play in order to develop therapeutic approaches.

Starting from the belief that an agenda is not simply an expression of individual intentions, but rather a vector for the production of new realities, AGENDA addresses the need for architecture to transform itself in an era of ecological and economic crisis. Change, the buzzword of the last U.S. presidential campaign, is indeed the order of the day, and AGENDA explores exactly what kind of change will be needed if architects are to assume a political and social agency in this new landscape. The book seeks to define not only the work of JDS Architects, but also the challenges and situations confronting young architectural practices emerging at a time of crisis. An ambitious attempt to describe the conditions within which architecture is produced today.
