The Blocking Technique, Weighted Mean Operators and Hardy's Inequality

This book presents the first comprehensive treatment of the blocking technique which consists in transforming norms in section form into norms in block form, and vice versa. Such norms appear throughout analysis. The blocking technique is a powerful, yet elementary, tool whose usefulnes is demonstrated in the book. In particular, it is shown to lead to the solution of three recent problems of Bennett concerning the inequalities of Hardy and Copson. The book is addressed to researchers and graduate students. An interesting feature is that it contains a dictionary of transformations between section and block norms and will thus be useful to researchers as a reference text. The book requires no knowledge beyond an introductory course in functional analysis.

Extension Problems and Stable Ranks

This self-contained encyclopedic monograph gives a detailed introduction to Bézout equations and stable ranks, encompassing and explaining needed topological, analytical, and algebraic tools and methods. Some of the highlights included are Carleson's corona theorem and the Bass, topological, and matricial stable ranks. The first volume focusses on topological structures, Banach algebras, and advanced function theory, thus preparing the stage for the algebraic structures in the second volume towards examining stable ranks with analytic methods. The main emphasis is laid on algebras of holomorphic functions. Often a new approach is presented or at least a different angle of sight, which makes the book attractive both for researchers and students interested in these active fields of research.

Regularity Properties of Functional Equations in Several Variables

This book illustrates the basic ideas of regularity properties of functional equations by simple examples. It then treats most of the modern results about regularity of non-composite functional equations of several variables in a unified fashion. A long introduction highlights the basic ideas for beginners and several applications are also included.

Blaschke Products and Their Applications

Blaschke Products and Their Applications

Blaschke Products and Their Applications presents a collection of survey articles that examine Blaschke products and several of its applications to fields such as approximation theory, differential equations, dynamical systems, harmonic analysis, to name a few. Additionally, this volume illustrates the historical roots of Blaschke products and highlights key research on this topic. For nearly a century, Blaschke products have been researched. Their boundary behaviour, the asymptomatic growth of various integral means and their derivatives, their applications within several branches of mathematics, and their membership in different function spaces and their dynamics, are a few examples of where Blaschke products have shown to be important. The contributions written by experts from various fields of mathematical research will engage graduate students and researches alike, bringing the reader to the forefront of research in the topic. The readers will also discover the various open problems, enabling them to better pursue their own research.
