The effects of isolation, area size, and habitat quality on the survival of animal and plant populations in the cultural landscape are central aspects of a research project started in Germany in 1993 (,Forschungsverbund, Isolation, FHichengroBe und BiotopquaIiHit', abbreviated to 'FIFB'). Descendants of Johnann Heinrich "Ferdinand" Unterbrink and Maria Gertrude Ratterman and their eleven children. Ferdinand came to America from Germany with his parents at age 17 and settled in Ohio. Gertrude also came from Germany to Ohio in 1838 as a child.

The Child's View of the Third Reich in German Literature
This book examines the ways in which German authors have used the child's perspective to present the Third Reich. It considers how children at this time were brought up and educated to accept unquestioningly National Socialist ideology, and thus questions the possibility of a traditional naive perspective on these events. Authors as diverse as Günter Grass, Siegfried Lenz, and Christa Wolf, together with many less well-known writers, have all used this perspective, and this raises the question as to why it is such a popular means of confronting the enormity of the Third Reich. This study asks whether this perspective is an evasive strategy, a means of gaining new insights into the period, or a means of discovering a new language which had not been tainted by Nazism. This raises and addresses issues central to a post-war aesthetic in German writing.

Conopidae (Diptera)
The World Catalogue of the Conopidae offers the first complete list of this Diptera family worldwide since 1919. 808 recent and fossil species, together with their synonyms, belonging to 57 genera are listed. All original descriptions have been verified by the author. Type material and its depository is described for every species, the published distribution for each species is documented at the country level, and a complete list of references is provided for every record. Published information concerning hosts, possible hosts and egg carriers is compiled, with some 309 host species being reported for 73 species of Conopidae. With more than 1450 literature citations, this catalogue presents by far the most complete taxonomic assessment of this family produced to date.
Chrysomeloidea II (Orsodacnidae, Megalopodidae, Chrysomelidae) – Part 1
Volume 6/2 of the Catalogue of Palaearctic Coleoptera focuses on the second part of the beetle superfamily Chrysomeloidea reported from the Palaearctic biogeographic region. For the genus and species-groups taxa all relevant names are given and all nomenclatural data are cross-checked and the distribution of species and subspecies is given per country or smaller region. A group of 14 experts have worked to collect data based on a critical review of published sources including a significant amount of new information. This volume is also a tool for specialists as well as amateurs, which warrants unambiguous communication.
