The end of a relationship throws Katharina, a 30-year-old woman from Germany, into a deep life crisis. While her identity breaks, she builds up a whole range of different personalities. To get back on her feet and to learn how to trust again, she moves to Spain, where she finds her behavior and life mirrored impressively. The story is honest and human: Full of misapprehensions, roundabouts and unconventional decisions, enriched with a pinch of humor. It is based on a true story and describes the interdependence of the inner and outer reality. What if all events in life are not pure chances but results of this interdependence? This is a book that embraces the endless richness of human experiences and builds bridges between people through its honesty. We are not alone in all this!

Universal Traceability. A Comprehensive, Generic, Technology-Independent, and Semantically Rich Approach

Traceability describes the ability of stakeholders to understand and follow relationships between artifacts that play some role in software development. It is essential for many development tasks, e.g., quality assurance, requirements management, or software maintenance. Aiming to overcome various deficiencies of existing traceability concepts, this book presents a universal approach describing required features of traceability solutions. This includes a technology-independent, generic template for the definition of semantically rich traceability relationship types and technology-independent patterns for the retrieval of traceability information, reflecting generic problems common to traceability applications. The universal approach is implemented on the basis of two concrete technologies which facilitate comprehensive traceability: the TGraph approach and OWL ontologies. The applicability of the approach is shown by three case studies dealing with the reuse of software artifacts, process model refinement, and requirements management, respectively.

Mass Customization

This book defines the parameters of the emerging business strategy of mass customization, covering the main categories in a systematic examination of: manufacturing systems and mass customization; supply chain management and mass customization; and information systems and mass customization. The book provides a conceptual framework for mass customization, its tools, its solutions, and real-world examples of successful implementations of the business strategy.

This book provides a coherent methodology for Model-Driven Requirements Engineering which stresses the systematic treatment of requirements within the realm of modelling and model transformations. The underlying basic assumption is that detailed requirements models are used as first-class artefacts playing a direct role in constructing software. To this end, the book presents the Requirements Specification Language (RSL) that allows precision and formality, which eventually permits automation of the process of turning requirements into a working system by applying model transformations and code generation to RSL. The book is structured in eight chapters. The first two chapters present the ma...

Architecture-based Evolution of Dependable Software-intensive Systems

This cumulative habilitation thesis, proposes concepts for (i) modelling and analysing dependability based on architectural models of software-intensive systems early in development, (ii) decomposition and composition of modelling languages and analysis techniques to enable more flexibility in evolution, and (iii) bridging the divergent levels of abstraction between data of the operation phase, architectural models and source code of the development phase.

Interrogating Datafication

What constitutes a data practice and how do contemporary digital media technologies reconfigure our understanding of practices in general? Autonomously acting media, distributed digital infrastructures, and sensor-based media environments challenge the conditions of accounting for data practices both theoretically and empirically. Which forms of cooperation are constituted in and by data practices? And how are human and nonhuman agencies distributed and interrelated in data-saturated environments? The volume collects theoretical, empirical, and historiographical contributions from a range of international scholars to shed light on the current shift from media to data practices.
