The book presents recent advances in the generation and detection of fake multimedia. It also presents some frontiers in defensive techniques in front of skillfully cloned media. The ultimate purpose of the research direction presented by this book is to build up a trustworthy media network benefited by an iron dome in front of media clones’ attacks. The book focusses on (1) applications of deep generative models in the generation of fake multimedia, and (2) cyber-defensive and detective techniques in front of cyberattacks. The book is composed of three parts: (i) introduction, (ii) fake media generation, and (iii) fake media detection.
This book offers an empirical and theoretical study of the Koizumi administration, covering such issues as the characteristics of its political style, its domestic and foreign policies, and its larger historical significance. The key questions that guide its approach are: what enabled Koizumi to exercise unusually strong leadership, and what structural transformations of Japanese politics did he achieve? Uchiyama looks at policy-making processes, newly created institutional arenas such as the Council on Economic and Fiscal Policy, Koizumi’s populist strategy, foreign policy, and neo-liberal convictions to assess the historical significance of his administration and seek out the basis for its wide public support. Finally, the book undertakes a normative evaluation of the merits and demerits of the Koizumi administration’s political style, and compares it with the Abe and Fukuda administrations that came after. This book will be of interest to scholars and students with an interest in comparative politics, administrative reform, and contemporary Japan.
This book constitutes refereed proceedings of the 29th International Workshop on Frontiers of Computer Vision, IW-FCV 2023, held in Yeosu, South Korea in February 20–22, 2023. This workshop is an annual event that brings together researchers in the field of computer vision and artificial intelligence to share their research results. The workshop was started 29 years ago as a way to strengthen networking and share research results between Japanese and Korean researchers, and it has since grown in scope and influence, so from 2017, the workshop became an international event. A seminar on "Practical Approaches to Earthquake Prediction and Warning" was held in Tokyo and Tsukuba, Japan on November 7-11, 1983. This was the sixth seminar on earthquake prediction in the framework of the U.S.-Japan Cooperation in Science Program, a series that was initiated in 1964. The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science and the National Science Foundation of the U.S.A. sponsored the seminar. The two-volume set LNCS 10132 and 10133 constitutes the thoroughly refereed proceedings of the 23rd International Conference on Multimedia Modeling, MMM 2017, held in Reykjavik, Iceland, in January 2017. Of the 149 full papers submitted, 36 were selected for oral presentation and 33 for poster presentation; of the 34 special session papers submitted, 24 were selected for oral presentation and 2 for poster presentation; in addition, 5 demonstrations were accepted from 8 submissions, and all 7 submissions to VBS 2017.
