This three-week summer program considered the symmetries preserving various natural geometric structures. There are two parts to the proceedings. The articles in the first part are expository but all contain significant new material. The articles in the second part are concerned with original research. All articles were thoroughly refereed and the range of interrelated work ensures that this will be an extremely useful collection.
This proceedings is a collection of articles in several complex variables with emphasis on geometric methods and results, which includes several survey papers reviewing the development of the topics in these decades. Through this volume one can see an active field providing insight into other fields like algebraic geometry, dynamical systems and partial differential equations.
This volume contains the proceedings of the Alexandre Vinogradov Memorial Conference on Diffieties, Cohomological Physics, and Other Animals, held from December 13–17, 2021, at the Independent University of Moscow and Moscow State University, Moscow, Russia. The papers are devoted to various interrelations of nonlinear PDEs with geometry and integrable systems. The topics discussed are: gravitational and electromagnetic fields in General Relativity, nonlocal geometry of PDEs, Legendre foliated cocycles on contact manifolds, presymplectic gauge PDEs and Lagrangian BV formalism, jet geometry and high-order phase transitions, bi-Hamiltonian structures of KdV type, bundles of Weyl structures, Lax representations via twisted extensions of Lie algebras, energy functionals and normal forms of knots, and differential invariants of inviscid flows. The companion volume (Contemporary Mathematics, Volume 789) is devoted to Algebraic and Cohomological Aspects of PDEs.
In 2012, the Centre de Recherches Mathématiques was at the center of many interesting developments in geometric and spectral analysis, with a thematic program on Geometric Analysis and Spectral Theory followed by a thematic year on Moduli Spaces, Extremality and Global Invariants. This volume contains original contributions as well as useful survey articles of recent developments by participants from three of the workshops organized during these programs: Geometry of Eigenvalues and Eigenfunctions, held from June 4-8, 2012; Manifolds of Metrics and Probabilistic Methods in Geometry and Analysis, held from July 2-6, 2012; and Spectral Invariants on Non-compact and Singular Spaces, held from July 23-27, 2012. The topics covered in this volume include Fourier integral operators, eigenfunctions, probability and analysis on singular spaces, complex geometry, Kähler-Einstein metrics, analytic torsion, and Strichartz estimates. This book is co-published with the Centre de Recherches Mathématiques.
This volume presents the proceedings of the Southeast Geometry Seminar for the meetings that took place bi-annually between the fall of 2009 and the fall of 2011, at Emory University, Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Alabama Birmingham, and the University of Tennessee. Talks at the seminar are devoted to various aspects of geometric analysis and related fields, in particular, nonlinear partial differential equations, general relativity, and geometric topology. Articles in this volume cover the following topics: a new set of axioms for General Relativity, CR manifolds, the Mane Conjecture, minimal surfaces, maximal measures, pendant drops, the Funk-Radon-Helgason method, ADM-mass and capacity, and extrinsic curvature in metric spaces.
Since its discovery in 1997 by Maldacena, AdS/CFT correspondence has become one of the prime subjects of interest in string theory, as well as one of the main meeting points between theoretical physics and mathematics. On the physical side, it provides a duality between a theory of quantum gravity and a field theory. The mathematical counterpart is the relation between Einstein metrics and their conformal boundaries. The correspondence has been intensively studied, and a lot of progress emerged from the confrontation of viewpoints between mathematics and physics. Written by leading experts and directed at research mathematicians and theoretical physicists as well as graduate students, this volume gives an overview of this important area both in theoretical physics and in mathematics. Two central aspects of Cartan's approach to differential geometry are the theory of exterior differential systems (EDS) and the method of moving frames.
