One day everything is fine, the next you find yourself "drawn away from home"! That is the situation that I found myself in after working at home for twenty-odd years. Yes, I had been away a few days here, a week there, but things were all about to change. Circumstances were about to take me further a-field, out of commuting distance, off to other countries, away from family and friends, away from a much loved Montrose Football Club. Departing into the unknown I had a wife who could not see me off from the railway station- we had never been parted- two boys who acted as though they weren't really bothered, but I could see the look on their faces. It was a shock to the system, but a bigger shock was yet to come. Have you ever tried to support your team away from home!

While extensive attention has been paid to black youth, adult black British men are a notable omission in academic literature. This book is the first attempt to understand one of Britain’s hidden populations: the post-Windrush generation, who matured within a post-industrial British society that rendered them both invisible and irrelevant. Using ethnography, participant observation, interviews and his own personal experience, and without an ounce of liberal angst, Kenny Monrose pulls no punches and presents the reader with a fierce but sensitive study of a population that has been vilified and ignored. The widely disseminated portrait of black maleness, which habitually constructs black me...

Their ancestors may have been cargo in the slave ships that arrived in Charleston, S.C. Today, the scale has been rebalanced: black longshoremen run the port's cargo operation. They are members of the International Longshoremen's Association, a powerful labor union, and Kenny Riley is the charismatic leader of the Charleston local. Riley combines commitment to the civil rights movement with the practicality to ensure that Charleston remains a principal East Coast port. He emerged on the international stage in 2000, rallying union members worldwide to the defense of "The Charleston Five," longshoremen arrested after a confrontation with police turned violent. This is Riley's story as well as a behind-the-scenes look at organized black labor in a Deep South port.

HIDDEN TOYS The old house in Maine gave Beth the creeps. She couldn't believe they were really moving in. If it weren't for the wooden doll she had found in the closet of her new bedroom, she would have been miserable. But the strange hand-carved figure fascinated her, and she sensed with a child's instinct that she had to hide it from her parents... HIDDEN EVIL It was a house of darkness and shadows, but with her secret doll, Beth wasn't afraid. Not even when she heard the scratching and whispering at night. Not even when the tall, massive stones of her dreams began to ooze with blood. For as she stared into the eyes of the wooden doll, she heard it call to her and felt the force of its evil power. And she knew that it was about to tell her what she had to do...

An insider’s history of the Rangers Football Club’s almost-decade-long climb back to the top of Scottish football and their fifty-fifth league title. In February 2012, Rangers faced an uncertain future and fans feared for their club as a Scottish institution was plunged into crisis. Just months later, Rangers would start out on what those supporters christened “The Journey” as they attempted to make their way back to the top of the game from the Third Division. The years that followed were amongst the most tumultuous and controversial in the club’s illustrious history as financial results became as important and noteworthy as football ones. Through it all, Rangers supporters follow...
