Kleidungspraktiken aus Sicht von Kindern im Vorschulalter
In Bildungsdiskussionen ist bei unterschiedlichsten Themen immer auch der Blick auf die kulturelle Vielfalt und Identitauf die kulturelle Vielfalt und Identität von Kindern gerichtet. Mit diesem Buch wird der Versuch unternommen, kulturrelevante Merkmale über die von Kindern selbst formulierten Wahrnehmungen und Erfahrungen zu Kleidungspraktiken aufzuspüren. Ansätze aus der sozialwissenschaftlichen Kleidungsforschung, welche die Kleidung als Kommunikationsform bzw. als vestimentäre Operation auffassen, schaffen einen Zugang zu den Äußerungsformen des Kindes als Kleidungsnutzer. Aus entwicklungsbedingten Aspekten und sozialisationstheoretischen Dimensionen lassen sich zentrale Kategorien - Gesellschaftsbild, Geschlechterbild, ethische Identität, Eigenbild - bilden, die sich als Bezugsrahmen für vestimentäre Konzepte eignen.
Exhibiting the Nazi Past
This book is the first full-length study of the museum object as a memory medium in history exhibitions about the Nazi era, the Second World War, and the Holocaust. Over recent decades, German and Austrian exhibition-makers have engaged in significant programmes of object collection, often in collaboration with witnesses and descendants. At the same time, exhibition-makers have come to recognise the degree to which the National Socialist era was experienced materially, through the loss, acquisition, imposition, destruction, and re-purposing of objects. In the decades after 1945, encounters with material culture from the Nazi past continued, both within the family and in the public sphere. In analysing how these material engagements are explored in the museum, the book not only illuminates a key aspect of German and Austrian cultural memory but contributes to wider debates about relationships between the human and object worlds.

Besser ausstellen
Ausstellungen entwickeln sich ständig weiter, insbesondere durch interdisziplinäre Impulse. Vor diesem Hintergrund diskutieren die Beiträger*innen neue, selbstreflexive Herangehensweisen aus Forschung und Praxis. Den Ausgangspunkt dafür bildet das Projekt der DASA Arbeitswelt Ausstellung zum Thema Storytelling. Im Fokus stehen zum einen innovative Ansätze des Kuratierens und Gestaltens von Ausstellungen, zum anderen deren Evaluation und Analyse. Die Beiträge fordern dazu auf, unter der Devise »Neues ausprobieren, Ziele evaluieren, Zusammenhänge analysieren« weiter über »besseres« Ausstellen nachzudenken.

Das traditionelle und geheime Erfahrungswissen des Schneiders im Bereich der Zuschneidekunst war bis ins 19. Jahrhundert in der Meisterwerkstatt situiert. Im Zuge der fortschreitenden Industrialisierung wurde diesem technisch-gestalterischen Wissen bis zur Jahrhundertwende ein formalisiertes Wissen an die Seite gestellt, das universell anwendbar sein sollte.
