Vuoden 2004 Tieto-Finlandian voittaja. Luovutetut kertoo Suomesta jatkosodan aikana Natsi-Saksaan luovutettujen ihmisten ja heidän omaistensa tarinan. Elina Sanan monivuotinen tutkimustyö perustuu luovutettujen ihmisten ja heidän omaistensa haastatteluihin ja mittaviin arkistotutkimuksiin kotimaassa ja ulkomailla. Teos kertoo, keitä luovutetut olivat, mitä heille tapahtui, miten he joutuivat elämään ja miksi jotkut heistä kuolivat. Journalistinen dokumenttikirja jatkaa ja laajentaa Elina Sanan Kuoleman laiva s/s Hohenhörn -teoksessa avaamaa vaiettua ja arkaa aihetta. Luovutetut herätti ilmestyessään laajaa huomiota aina ulkomaita myöten. Suomen hallitus tilasi selvityksen ihmisluovutuksista emeritusprofessori Heikki Ylikankaalta. Silloinen pääministeri Matti Vanhanen päätti perustuttaa Suomen Kansallisarkiston alaisuuteen laajan akateemisen tutkimushankkeen, joka tarkensi kirjassa kuvattuja tapahtumia edelleen. Teos sai Sadankomitean Rauhanpalkinnon vuonna 2003 ja palkittiin Tieto-Finlandialla vuonna 2004.
