In this monograph, investigations of the performance of narrow-gap semiconductor photodiodes are presented, and recent progress in different IR photodiode technologies is discussed: HgCdTe photodiodes, InSb photodiodes, alternatives to HgCdTe III-V and II-VI ternary alloy photodiodes, lead chalcogenide photodiodes, and a new class of photodiodes based on two-dimensional solids. Investigations of the performance of photodiodes operated in different spectral regions are presented.

Smiths Group (formerly Smiths Industries), part of the UK FTSE 100 index, is a global engineering company with a market capitalisation over L5bn. Evolving from beginnings in the Victorian jewellery trade, to significant market presences in the twentieth century motor accessory, clock and watch industries, it has reinvented itself again as a diversified international company, operating in the medical, communications, security and engineered components sectors. Smith explores how these emigres' physical mobility reconfigured their relationships with the men and women they left behind, and how it forced them to develop new relationships with individuals they encountered abroad. It analyses how the experiences of mobility anddisplacement catalysed a shift in their religious identities, in some ways broadening but in others narrowing ...

James I described Lambeth Palace Library as 'a monument of fame' in his kingdom. It is the historic library of the Archbishops of Canterbury; its records date from the 9th century to the present day. In this new collection of treasures from the Library, sixty items are reproduced in glorious detail alongside extended expert commentary. These include illuminated manuscripts from the Middle Ages such as the Macdurnan gospels and Hours of Richard III; manuscripts from the Tudor and Stuart eras, including a Venetian Atlas, a letter from Elizabeth I on her recovery from smallpox and the execution warrant for Mary Queen of Scots; early printed books, among them a Gutenberg Bible with English illum...
