Traditional Malay houses are one example of Malaysia’s cultural heritage endangered by the onslaught of modern development. The inconsistent approaches in evaluating ways for the preservation of heritage buildings, such as the traditional Malay house, also make it difficult to preserve these structures. Based on the data from Laporan Teknikal Rancangan Tempatan Kuala Kangsar, the open space is only 17.5 hectare of 0.9% of the overall land use in Kuala Kangsar district. City of Kuala Kangsar requires at least one public area including many recreation facilities such as rest house, parking area, sports area and so on. Therefore, recreational area or garden was built in Royal Town of Kuala Kangsar for local residents or tourists needs. Current land used of the site is an open space which is for recreational purposes. Surrounding of the site is the commercial area such as shop houses, bank, government offices, and also residential houses. The site is the only recreation area for the local residents. Therefore, it is potential to enhance or redevelop to meet the user needs in order to attract more tourists.
