This volume is a journey through the work of Franz West: in four large chapters with different paper qualities, the reader goes on the journey of this luxurious volume. In every chapter you will find a different station, to enter West's work with the famous Adaptives and early installations, on to more than 50 collages from the artist's private possessions, then you see the works from the group Sisyphos (2002), three new placebos (2003) and installations from the years 19982003. Finally, in the fourth and last chapter, the artist's latest project: the crown. West calls his work Corona.
Belgium-based Berlinde de Bruyckere (born 1964) makes sculptures in wax, wood, wool, horse skin and hair. Here, texts from Rudolf Sagmeister and De Bruyckere explore the work in relation to Christian iconography and the theme of metamorphosis.
Anish Kapoor is one of the most influential sculptors of his generation. Kapoor sees his work as being engaged with deep-rooted metaphysical polarities: presence and absence, being and non-being, place and non-place, the solid and the intangible. Throughout Kapoor's sculptures his fascination with darkness and light is apparent; the translucent quality of the resin works, the absorbent nature of the pigment, the radiant glow of alabaster, and the fluid reflections of stainless steel and water. Through this interplay between form and light, Kapoor aspires to evoke sublime experiences, which address primal physical and psychological states. My Red Homeland presents a welcome retrospective view of Kapoor's work since the early 90s.

Completed in 1997, the Kunsthaus Bregenz is clad in glass panels. During the day, it is a semi-transparent glass structure, while at night it becomes a thirty-meter-high glowing cube, a statement in light. The interior of the building - a stack of three rooms offering an exhibition space of 1,800 square meters, with a highly sophisticated air-conditioning system that both heats and cools - is constructed in smooth concrete, terrazzo, matt glass, and indirect natural light. This reprint of the monograph from the Werkdokumente series presents the architecture of Zumthor's museum with texts by Friedrich Achleitner and the architect himself, as well as with floor plans and photographs by Hélène Binet.
From autumn 2012, a series of KUB Arena publications will be regularly accompanying exhibitions and events in the KUB Arena Bergenz. 'On Performance' is the first volume to be published in this series. It not only documents the performance project that took place in the KUB Arena in the winter of 2010-11, but also contains in-depth essays examining the theory and history of performance.
Much of modern architecture has been conceived using glass to create minimal structures. This book begins with an introduction that traces the history of glass in architecture and also describes the developments in glass technology. It also features specially commissioned photographs by the renowned architectural photographer, Dennis Gilbert.
Transparency and luminescence have reemerged in the vocabulary of architecture, and light and "lightness" have become key concepts for a significant number of contemporary architects, as well as artists who create installations. Recent work by these designers recalls the use of transparent materials in early modern structures, but they have introduced new ideas and technical solutions. In doing so, they have redefined the relationship between the observer and the structure by interposing elements that both veil and illuminate. In this architecture of lightness, buildings become intangible, structures shed their weight and facades become unstable, dissolving into an often luminous evanescence...
Markus Schinwald questions the normal and its perception in artistic images through the alienation of space and the human body. At the centre of this publication are the amply presented installation photographs from Kunsthaus Bregenz, complemented by numerous depictions of pivotal works from the past few years. Essays elucidate Schinwald's complex staging of the game of reality, experience and perception. The design of the artist's-workbook was done in close collaboration with the artist.
