It represents a selection of the best research presented at the international, interdisciplinary Comparative Drama Conference. This anthology includes papers from the 29th annual conference held in Northridge, California. Ethics of Life: freedom & diversity
A poetic and philosophical meditation on life and the importance of unusualness and diversity of life-forms, ideas, cultures, peoples and species. The book explores key themes of AI, freedom and free will, cooperation and competition, sacrifice and suffering. I have also created over 50 algorithmic artworks for the book. Life-forms are extraordinarily useful and unusual engines that make use of free energy to create complexity and information. We have many good reasons to value and protect the maximal compatible diversity of life-forms and species.
Reading the Puppet Stage

Pinter Et Cetera
PINTER ET CETERA, edited by Craig N. Owens, is among the first volumes published since playwright Harold Pinter's death to account for the many ways his poems, plays, fiction, screenwriting, and public statements have have influenced the creative work of artists and writers worldwide. It collects nine essays by nine scholars from five nations, each approaching Pinter's work from a different perspective. Together, these essays offer a compelling argument for thinking of Pinter not merely as a unique writer whose individual genius has introduced the world to a particular aesthetic, but more importantly, as an artist working within numerous traditions, influencing and influenced by the work of painters, installation artists, film directors, photographers, poets and, of course, theatre-makers. This peer-reviewed World Literature I anthology includes introductory text and images before each series of readings. Sections of the text are divided by time period in three parts: the Ancient World, Middle Ages and Renaissance, and then divided into chapters by location. World Literature I and the Compact Anthology of World Literature are similar in format and both intended for World Literature I courses, but these two texts are developed around different curricula.
