A guided journey of empowerment and healing through life’s difficult passages, with practical tools, including embodied rituals, writing prompts, seasonal self-care practices, and community creation. The journey of the Dark Goddess is a natural part of any difficult rite of passage. These transitions are often thought of as negative—death of a loved one, job loss, home loss, chronic illness, divorce—but even so-called “happy” transitions, such as marriage, the birth of a child, or retirement, can come with unexpected instability, grief, and a need for integration. In our culture, we may often feel like we should "move on" or "get back to normal." In studying myth, however, we come ...

Wild Soul Runes

"This book is based on the premise that all of us possess the ability to receive divine information through rune practice. Rather than explaining what the runes mean, the book offers an interactive practice to discover the unique ways in which the runes speak to us, and introduces the concept of the runes as beings rather than simply an alphabet or magical tools. The book explores the history of the runes, both in myth and through the connection with Old European archaeological findings, which offers evidence for the idea that the runes have a feminine origin, coming from the well of the Norns, the female triple giantesses who represent the fates in Norse myth"--

Clean Freak and Other Stories is Lindsey M. Costley's first collection of nonfiction essays. The book opens with a critical introduction that situates the creative work in a tradition of comedic personal narrative. David Sedaris, Periel Aschenbrand, and Jack Driscoll include some of the influences that shape the ideas and techniques behind the essays. For example, Sedarisâ situational humor inspired essays such as âThe Penis,â in which the author describes her experience drawing nude models in an art class. The themes in the collection range from family and loss to personal growth and societal issues, such as body image and homosexuality. The title piece, âClean Freak,â encapsulates several of these themes as the author examines her own obsession with cleanliness.

The History of Rome (Books from the Foundation of the City) is a monumental history of ancient Rome, written between 27 and 9 BC by the historian Titus Livius The work covers the period from the legends concerning the arrival of Aeneas and the refugees from the fall of Troy, to the city's founding in 753, the expulsion of the Kings in 509, and down to Livy's own time, during the reign of the emperor Augustus. Volume one comprises the first eight books, covering the legendary founding of Rome (including the landing of Aeneas in Italy and the founding of the city by Romulus), the period of the kings, the early republic down to its conquest by the Gauls in 390 BC, and the roman wars with the Aequi, Volsci, Etruscans, and Samnites.
