Estudos da Linguagem: Lentes para a leitura do mundo pós-pandêmico contempla resultados de pesquisas realizadas ou em andamento por pesquisadores e alunos que participaram do X SEPPEGEL – Seminário de Pesquisas do Programa de Pós-graduação em Estudos da Linguagem (PPEGEL) da Universidade Federal de Catalão (UFCAT) em 2022, no momento pós-pandemia Covid 19. Quando organizamos o Conversações I tínhamos a necessidade de tirar o melhor de um momento pós isolamento, ainda com muitas incertezas, que através/com/a partir da arte, poderíamos trilhar nossos objetivos, aproximando nossos estudantes de outros artistas/professores/pesquisadores, através de trocas e provocações. Logo os diálogos com os artistas/professores/pesquisadores resultaram em escritas e nesse livro se constituem em um exercício de trocas sobre as experiências dos autores e das autoras. Aqui está o resultado desses encontros, uma partilha de reflexões, memórias, vivências e experiências sobre e em Artes/Arte/arte, entre professores e estudantes, entre artistas e pesquisadores.

XXVII Brazilian Congress on Biomedical Engineering
This book presents cutting-edge research and developments in the field of Biomedical Engineering. It describes both fundamental and clinically-oriented findings, highlighting advantages and challenges of innovative methods and technologies, such as artificial intelligence, wearable devices and neuroengineering, important issues related to health technology management and human factors in health, and new findings in biomechanical analysis and modeling. Gathering the proceedings of the XXVII Brazilian Congress on Biomedical Engineering, CBEB 2020, held on October 26-30, 2020, in Vitória, Brazil, and promoted by the Brazilian Society of Biomedical Engineering – SBEB, this book gives emphasis to research and developments carried out by Brazilian scientists, institutions and professionals. It offers an extensive overview on new trends and clinical implementation of technologies, and it is intended to foster communication and collaboration between medical scientists, engineers, and researchers inside and outside the country.
Strategies in the drug discovery and development for leishmaniasis: immunomodulators, natural products, synthetic compounds, and drug repositioning
Leishmaniases are a group of tropical diseases that affect millions of people worldwide. They are considered neglected diseases prevalent in emerging countries in Latin America, West Africa, and Southeast Asia and still occurring in Mediterranean countries. There is no human vaccine available to prevent and control the disease infection. For the last 70 years, the available chemotherapy has been constituted by first-line (pentavalent antimonials) and second-line drugs (amphotericin B, pentamidine, paramomycin, and miltefosine). Its route of administration is difficult, the treatment is long, and its efficiency varies depending on the parasite species and clinical manifestations, which results in the emergence of resistant cases. Moreover, they present high toxicity to patients, and even some less toxic formulations available, are still expensive for the poorest countries’ vulnerable populations. This often leads to abandonment and failure of treatment. The medical-scientific community is facing difficulties to overcome these issues with new suitable therapies, and the identification of new drug targets. So, it means that efforts to identify new strategies must continue.
