Advances in Heat Exchangers
Heat exchangers are important devices for engineering, research, and industry. Because of this, any improvement helps to optimize the whole process. Opportunity areas may be found in design, materials, or working fluids. In this sense, the present book compiles some advances in the matter of design (three chapters) and working fluids (one chapter). An introductory chapter also is presented.
Heat Exchangers
The demand for energy to satisfy the basic needs and services of the population worldwide is increasing as are the economic costs associated with energy production. As such, it is essential to emphasize energy recovery systems to improve heat transfer in thermal processes. Currently, significant research efforts are being conducted to expose criteria and analysis techniques for the design of heat exchange equipment. This book discusses optimization of heat exchangers, heat transfer in novel working fluids, and the experimental and numerical analysis of heat transfer applications.
Flow Measurement
The Flow Measurement book comprises different topics. The book is divided in four sections. The first section deals with the basic theories and application in microflows, including all the difficulties that such phenomenon implies. The second section includes topics related to the measurement of biphasic flows, such as separation of different phases to perform its individual measurement and other experimental methods. The third section deals with the development of various experiments and devices for gas flow, principally air and combustible gases. The last section presents 2 chapters on the theory and methods to perform flow measurements indirectly by means on pressure changes, applied on large and small flows.
Computational Overview of Fluid Structure Interaction
Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI), also known as engineering fluid mechanics, deals with mutual interaction between fluid and structural components. Fluid flow depending on the structural shape, motion, surface, and structural roughness, acts as mechanical forces on the structure. FSI can be seen everywhere in medicine, engineering, aerospace, the sciences, and even our daily life. This book provides the basic concept of fluid flow behavior in interaction with structures, which is crucial for almost all engineering disciplines.
