Masquerade

"Troy wants you, Christy, but he doesn't need you. I need you!" Had those words been spoken by anyone other than Jack, Christine Sanford would've written it off as a bad joke and would've never allowed them to affect her so dramatically. He was her first love and truth be told her only love. But he had proven himself untrustworthy when she discovered that he had cheated on her. Regardless of his claims of innocence, she couldn't bring herself to trust him again. He meant what he said. Jack Jordan could never have foreseen falling in love with his childhood friend Christine. But even less could he imagine that they would break up two years later when evidence of his infidelity was brought to light despite the fact that he never cheated on her. Jack is forced to defend his name and love against the clever Troy Nolan, whom he is convinced is behind the deceit. But the deception runs much deeper than Troy, and Jack must unveil the truth in the midst of the lies that surround them.

Absolution

If cursed is the hand that kills, then it wouldn’t matter if that same hand stole, would it? Tulen feels doubly cursed, forced to serve the bratty princess of Impian as punishment for her crimes. When said princess embarks on a pilgrimage, Tulen grabs her only chance to offer a sacrifice at the holy city of Suci—and maybe, finally, feel clean again. Sultan Mikal has set his face towards Suci—and certain death. Nothing about his Penance is clear, except the fact that if he fails, Terang will fall along with him. When Tulen’s pilgrimage intersects with Sultan Mikal’s quest to fulfil the Covenant of Salt, Tulen faces a difficult dilemma: What is her absolution worth in the face of the sultanate’s very existence?

Skateboarding

From skateboarding's distant origins in the 1940s to the heyday of the Z-Boys to Tony Hawk's lifelong and lucrative career as a professional skateboarding icon, this book showcases what skateboarding was in the past and what it's now evolved into. In the last half century, skateboarding has evolved from a simple, idyllic child's pastime that originated in southern California to becoming a worldwide youth culture phenomenon. This now-mainstream action sport has spawned a multi-billion-dollar commercial market for skateboarding equipment, skateboard-related media and entertainment, as well as skate-inspired softgoods like clothing, shoes, and accessories; and it is likely to soon become an Olympic sport. Skateboarding: The Ultimate Guide is brimming with fascinating history and engaging stories from skateboarding's 60-odd year existence and evolution. Covering the action sport's origins, myriad breakthrough developments, pioneering heroes, both "street style" and "vert" or ramp skating, unique popular culture, and likely future, this book will delight anyone with an interest in this individualistic and compelling athletic pursuit.
