A presente produção traz uma reflexão da assistência social à luz das transformações recentes que a colocam como política de proteção social não contributiva, afiançadora das seguranças sociais de acolhida; de renda; de convívio ou vivência familiar, comunitária e social; de desenvolvimento da autonomia e de apoio e auxílio. Esse é um tema atual, visto que, no rol das políticas públicas de seguridade social, a assistência social é das mais recentes a se constituir como Sistema, dentre os Sistemas Públicos brasileiros de proteção social não contributiva, e, por conseguinte, pouco estudada. A obra foca a gestão local em relação à participação e protagonismo dos usuários e a participação dos trabalhadores do SUAS. É dada ênfase na gestão do Serviço de Proteção e Atenção Integral à Família (PAIF) e do Serviço de Convivência e Fortalecimento de Vínculos (SCFV) e dos benefícios assistenciais, apontando as aquisições dos usuários em relação às seguranças socioassistenciais.
