Transformation and Post-War Economic Recovery of Ukraine

Even before achieving victorious peace in the war against the Russian aggressor, the process of economic recovery has begun in Ukraine. The purpose of this monograph is to explore the possibilities of the post-war revival of the main sectors of the Ukraine’s economy based on positive world experience and advanced technologies. To obtain practically applicable results, highly qualified researchers from various universities and research centres of Ukraine were involved. The main focus of the monograph is the study of the problems of the transformation and post-war reconstruction of the economy and it is mainly intended for potential practical participants in these processes. However, the authors are convinced that it will be interesting and useful to all researchers analysing the transformations of complex economic systems. Methodological approaches and practical recommendations can be adapted to the specifics of a country that is solving the problems of transformation and building an economic model that would correspond to new geostrategic realities.

Almost overnight, the massive military-industrial assets of the Soviet Union came under the jurisdiction of fifteen states instead of one established government. While only four states inherited weapons of mass destruction, most of the fifteen states of the former Soviet Union can produce sensitive materials and equipment. Because all the states se

This title was first published in 2002. Examining the development of and rationale behind the Ukrainian export control system, this text uses an original theoretically informed case study methodology to explain how and why Ukraine has continued to emphasize the importance of not only maintaining but augmenting its export control system. Furthermore, it assesses the utility of four international relations approaches in explaining non-proliferation export control development. This ground-breaking study on Ukrainian politics and economics is ideally suited to audiences of European, Ukrainian and US policy-makers, academics and specialists in security and political economy.

Ukrainian Foreign and Security Policy

A key country for stability and security in Europe, Ukraine is struggling to create consistent foreign and security policies. Political alliances, identity struggles, economic goals, and geopolitical position all pull this newly emergent state in different and often conflicting directions. Due to its dependencies on both the West and Russia, Ukraine's foreign policy is in a state of flux. To ensure stability in this newly-emergent state, the contributors to this volume argue that the West should be more assertive in offering an unambiguous developmental perspective, supporting democracy and the rule of law, and offer E.U. affiliation in the near future. International Relations theory and Ukr...

History and collective memories influence a nation, its culture, and institutions; hence, its domestic politics and foreign policy. That is the case in the Intermarium, the land between the Baltic and Black Seas in Eastern Europe. The area is the last unabashed rampart of Western Civilization in the East, and a point of convergence of disparate cultures. Marek Jan Chodakiewicz focuses on the Intermarium for several reasons. Most importantly because, as the inheritor of the freedom and rights stemming from the legacy of the Polish-Lithuanian/Ruthenian Commonwealth, it is culturally and ideologically compatible with American national interests. It is also a gateway to both East and West. Since...
