Just One Look

"As I stepped off the elevator on the second floor, I found myself silently begging for a calamity. A fire, a flash flood, even a tiny earthquake would suffice. Anything that would give me a legitimate reason to evacuate the area immediately. Or, better yet, I wouldn't make it out in time and the somber voice of Brian Williams would detail my demise on the nightly news. "Cassie Woodson entered the Midtown office building on the first day of her new job mere seconds before the entire skyscraper was reduced to rubble by the powerful explosion.""--

TRIPLE DEUCES

Triple Deuces goes deep inside the fences and walls of our jails and prisons to provide the reader with an unvarnished reality of how and why things happen inside of America's correctional facilities. The author provides the reader with raw and vivid accounts of his personal experiences, while interweaving similar experiences that have occurred in other jails and prisons. Triple Deuces is exciting and entertaining, but educational, and even humorous at times, as the author explains the dynamic nuances of our correctional facilities.

Predestination Reconsidered

The predestination doctrine is a pervasive teaching that touches upon other substantive teachings, including the sovereignty of God, the free will of humanity, the corruption brought upon us all by Adam's first sin, the incarnation of Jesus Christ, the death and resurrection of Christ, the essential work of the Holy Spirit both before and after salvation, the imperative to reach the lost, and the call to a holy lifestyle. In this review of predestination, there is another reason why this doctrine has been increasingly meaningful to me as a preacher; predestination impacts our understanding of our sojourn in this corrupted world amidst such suffering. Why did God allow sin and rebellion to exist and to flourish, seemingly without limit? If God chose some for heaven and some for hell before the foundation of the world, why didn't he just take his chosen ones to glory and spare us all this valley of death? The answer to that question is found in a proper understanding of predestination. This study is primarily a bible study, although the first chapter provides an historical overview of interpreations of predestination since the time of Origen and Athanasius.

As seen on the TODAY show as “a perfect beach read.” Three lifelong friends plus a dangerous, sexy new stranger in town add up to a scorching summer of manipulation, obsession, and murder, from the acclaimed author of The Hunting Wives. A woman in the forest thinks she’s going to die. I know he’s coming back for me. Jen Hansen, Kittie Spears, and Cynthia Nichols have been friends since childhood. They are now approaching forty and their lives have changed, but their insular East Texas town has not. They stay sane by drinking wine in the afternoons, dishing about other women in the neighborhood, and bonding over the heartache of their own encroaching middle age and raising ungrateful ...
