Family history and genealogical information about the descendants of Johnston Elliott who was born ca. 1748 in Cumberland Co., Pennsylvania. He married Rebecca Mayes ca. 1768. Rebecca was the daughter of Andrew Mayes and Rebecca McFarland. Johnston and Rebecca lived near Mercersburg, Pennsylvania and were the parents of ten children. Descendants lived in Pennsylvania, Indiana, Kentucky, Kansas, Oklahoma and elsewhere.
Thomas Godbey (1587-1628?) immigrated from England to Lower Norfolk County, Virginia in 1608. Descendants often spelled the surname Godby, and lived throughout most of the United States.
