Comment arriver à lire ses faits et gestes ? Dans quel but ? Mieux se connaître, disent les Anciens comme les Modernes. Mais cette connaissance, à quoi sert-elle s'il s'agit par exemple de s'émanciper pour détruire ? Et en admettant même qu'elle aurait pour objectif de construire autre chose, qui nous dit que cela serait « mieux » ? En tout cas, ce « mieux être » espéré implique en creux une recherche de qualité, ce qui sera appelé ici un affinement. Cette quête, en quelque sorte, cherchant à articuler subjectivité et objectivité, sera analysée en chaque geste, vue (comportement) création de relations (attitudes) dans lesquels s'élabore un travail d'interaction en vue de préserver (quantitatif) et affiner (qualitatif) la personne en son souffle (pneuma).

Comment cette petite pierre rhombique, peut-elle non seulement bloquer la chute afin d'éviter la destruction de ce qui est « acquis » mais aussi le stabiliser avant sa rénovation - plus que sa seule restauration ? Il s'agit d'innover à nouveau : indiquer qu'un univers de sens, avec son imaginaire solaire, ses planètes, les nouvelles Ève et Marie, les nouveaux Adam et Moïse, permet d'ores et déjà à la chair humaine de se repérer, d'y habiter pleinement. Cet univers ne veut pas seulement exister mais être là, bien présent, émergeant peu à peu du brouillard de la « postmodernité », telles ces espèces qui peuvent enfin prospérer : les anciennes espèces hégémoniques sont frappées de désuétude ; elles laissent la place à ce « quelque chose en plus », ce réel nouveau, qui émerge peu à peu. Nous y sommes ; qui « nous » néanmoins ?
LE NIHILISME FRANÇAIS CONTEMPORAIN
L'ensemble des auteurs étudiés ici - Bataille, Blanchot, Foucault, Derrida, Deleuze, Lyotard, Baudrillard, Bourdieu - seront dits "nihilistes antirationnalistes" car ils cherchent à empêcher que l'on puisse appréhender le monde, pensant ainsi éviter la transformation de l'appréhension en puissance de possession et en domination de l'homme sur l'homme. Mais, selon l'auteur, ils n'empêchent pas l'hégémonisme et l'affairisme de mettre en danger la Terre, bien heureux d'avoir le "rien" en face d'eux.

Les manques, la fuite en avant vers la destruction de ce qui permet d'être ensemble - et non pas seulement de vivre ensemble - sont ici analysés en des critiques diverses (des saillies) mettant en cause par exemple la théorie dite du "genre", l'effacement de l'idée de nation, de valeur objective, bref, la mise à l'index de tout ce qui ne pense pas de façon "gauche", allant de la haine du riche à la diabolisation d'Israël...
Nature et politique
Siffler la Marseillaise, faire des attentats, sont les produits d'un défi politique et non pas d'une exclusion sociale. Pourtant, l'on exclut souvent la question, comme l'on confond affairisme, appât du gain et économie de marché ; autant d'a priori réducteurs sur les aspirations de la condition humaine en matière de liens forts entre liberté et justice, c'est-à-dire entre le politique et la politique. L'ouvrage analyse ces impensés et fait des propositions sur ces questions si cruciales.
