Two-Toned Dress shows us good times, times of abundance, but does not shy away from showing the lonely times. Dig in! This well-crafted collection expertly deals with relationships, and does so with beautiful honesty. This poet helps us to remember our own times of being in love and leads us toward a compassionate view of others, including our parents, who have also known what it is to negotiate what life throws at us. Lucy Adkins grew up in rural Nebraska, received her undergraduate degree from Auburn University, and her MFA in Creative Writing in 2016 from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Her poetry has been published in many journals, including Rhino, Northeast, South Dakota Review, Concho River Review, and the anthologies Woven on the Wind, Times of Sorrow/Times of Grace, Crazy Woman Creek, and the Poets Against the War anthology. Her chapbook, One Life Shining: Addie Finch, Farmwife was published by Pudding House Press. She has also co-authored a book of non-fiction, Writing in Community, which won an "Ippy" in the Independent Publisher's Book Awards.

Spare and incisive, the poems in Losing the Ring in the River deal with three strong women—Clara, Emma, and Liz, women who are tough, often sassy, and have dreams that aren’t quelled by the realities they face. Saiser deftly explores the undercurrents connecting three generations and is at her most powerful when she explores how lives are restricted and sometimes painfully damaged by what people cannot or will not share with one another. Saiser’s poetry is as harsh as it is beautiful; she avoids resolutions and easy endings, focusing instead on the small, hard-won victories that each woman experiences in her life and in her love of those around her.

The Fire Inside

Wherever you are in your creative life---just tiptoeing in or fully immersed, The Fire Inside can be a source of encouragement and inspiration. Rodin said that "The main thing is to be moved, to love, to tremble, to live." In other words, to be fully engaged in life and the creativity that exists within. The Fire Inside, through a well-researched collection of essays and heart-opening personal stories, invites readers to uncover their unique talents and live out their individual dreams. Within each one of us are vast untapped reservoirs of creativity, and when we connect with that potential, our lives will open in wonderful and joy-filled ways. Few books on creativity are so inclusive, so we...
