Kindliche zerebrale Sehstörungen (CVI)
Beeinträchtigungen des Sehens im Kindesalter werden nicht ausschließlich durch ophthalmologische Auffälligkeiten verursacht. Auch eine frühkindliche Hirnschädigung kann die Entwicklung der visuellen Wahrnehmung beeinträchtigen. Diese zentral verursachten Entwicklungsstörungen werden zerebrale Sehstörungen, bei Kindern kurz CVI (Cerebral Visual Impairment) genannt. Um CVI zuverlässig zu erfassen, bedarf es eines neuropsychologischen diagnostischen Standards, dessen Entwicklung im Fokus dieses Werkes steht. Ebenso erfolgt eine umfassende neuropsychologische Charakterisierung von Kindern mit CVI-Risiko. Berücksichtigt werden dabei nicht nur die visuelle Wahrnehmung, sondern auch die kognitive Leistungsfähigkeit und nicht-kognitive Aspekte (z.B. das Sozialverhalten). Hierfür wurden Kinder und Jugendliche mit Risiko für CVI, Kinder und Jugendliche mit Sehbeeinträchtigung oder Sehbehinderung sowie gesunde Kinder mit standardisierten Verfahren untersucht und verglichen.
