The Post-traumatic Theatre of Grotowski and Kantor
Despite its international influence, Polish theatre remains a mystery to many Westerners. This volume attempts to fill in current gaps in English-language scholarship by offering a historical and critical analysis of two of the most influential works of Polish theatre: Jerzy Grotowski’s ‘Akropolis’ and Tadeusz Kantor’s ‘Dead Class’. By examining each director’s representation of Auschwitz, this study provides a new understanding of how translating national trauma through the prism of performance can alter and deflect the meaning and reception of theatrical works, both inside and outside of their cultural and historical contexts.

The Practice of Narrative: Storytelling in a Global Context
This volume was first published by Inter-Disciplinary Press in 2016. Story can have a power and presence that stretches beyond the vast, unspeakable boundaries of time and space; and yet story can also have a delicate impermanence that lasts no longer than a moment before it flashes back into the void. Some stories can bring people together; other stories can tear entire civilisations apart. Stories express and enliven experience; stories project and describe the desires and anxieties of existence. Stories can be narrated through written word and physical gesture, through graphic illustration and musical orchestration, through the spatial dynamics of architecture and the abstract poetics of conjecture. For these and myriad other reasons, storytelling and narrative are central to humanity, and the study of these practices is central to an understanding of what it means to be human. In this volume, the many narrative dimensions, media, and critical approaches to storytelling are explored with the common intention of comprehending and appreciating the global role that story plays in the articulation of human experience.

Sztuka polska po 1955 i 1989 roku" to próba opowieści o powojennej sztuce polskiej poprzez - z jednej strony - znaczące pominięcia i powody takich wykluczeń, a z drugiej - poprzez stopniowe ujawnianie się kontrowersyjnych zmian dotyczących sztuki i ścieranie się różnic. Daremna nostalgia za tym, co nie zostało wypowiedziane ze względu na polityczny konsensus zderza się w książce z olśnieniem wolnością i jej pluralizmem. To właśnie artystyczne utarczki często najdobitniej uświadamiały sztywne granice społecznych akceptacji, tak jak wcześniej - w okresie PRL-u - dotkliwy brak dyskursu tożsamościowego (m.in. feministycznego, gejowskiego) czy kompensacyjny charakter oficjalnej sztuki nowoczesnej wskazywał bezapelacyjnie i ostatecznie na dzieła, które mogą być uznane za sztukę. Konsensus odwilży 1955 roku i agon przełomu po 1989 roku ramują dwie narracje o sztuce polskiej: tego, co miało być niewidoczne i tego, co skandaliczne, wątpliwe i ambiwalentne.
