In 2015, Magali Reus (born 1981) opened the first of four exhibitions co-commissioned by SculptureCenter, New York; Hepworth Wakefield, England; Westfälischer Kunstverein, Münster, Germany; and Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin, Italy. The culmination of these projects is documented here.
Human
Using delicate prose and intense imagery, this translation explores the relationship and struggle of the human body and its inner being. Completely paralyzed by Lou Gehrig’s disease, Magali is imprisoned in her own body, able to communicate only by blinking her eyes. Feeling mentally free but physically trapped, she reflects on her past and regards her present physical existence as a prison. A relationship formed between Magali and her doctor gives one of them the hope to live and the other the grace to die.

Governance for the Environment
We live in an era of human-dominated ecosystems in which the demand for environmental governance is rising rapidly. At the same time, confidence in the capacity of governments to meet this demand is waning. How can we address the resultant governance deficit and achieve sustainable development? This book brings together perspectives from economics, management, and political science in order to identify innovative approaches to governance and bring them to bear on environmental issues.
