This book was presented on the occasion of Christopher de Hamel's sixtieth birthday, and celebrates his many accomplishments during his years at Sotheby's and more recently as the Gaylord Donnelley Fellow Librarian of the Parker Library at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. Deutsches und polnisches Strafrecht sind sich in vieler Hinsicht ahnlich, beispielhaft erkennbar ist dies daran, dass die Strafrechtswissenschaft in beiden Landern dieselben Systembegriffe verwendet. Unterschiede gibt es gleichwohl, so hinsichtlich positiver wie negativer Generalpravention in der Strafzumessung im Allgemeinen und bezuglich der Abschreckungspravention im Speziellen. In Deutschland unter strengen Voraussetzungen bei der Begrundung der Strafhohe zugelassen, ist die Abschreckungspravention in Polen schlechthin verboten. Die Dissertation erlautert Hintergrunde und Anwendungsfelder der Generalpravention und arbeitet anhand der Rechtsprechung verschiedene Fallgruppen heraus.

Building Resilience to Climate Change
With climate change now a certainty, the question is how much change there will be and what can be done about it. One of the answers is through adaptation. Many of the lessons that are being learned in adaptation are from success stories from the field.
