Negative Concord: A Hundred Years On
The concept of ‘negative concord’ refers to the seemingly multiple exponence of semantically single negation as in You ain’t seen nothing yet. This book takes stock of what has been achieved since the notion was introduced in 1922 by Otto Jespersen and sets the agenda for future research, with an eye towards increased cross-fertilization between theoretical perspectives and methodological tools. Major issues include (i) How can formal and typological approaches complement each other in uncovering and accounting for cross-linguistic variation? (ii) How can corpus work steer theoretical analyses? (iii) What is the contribution of diachronic research to the theoretical debates?

Grammatical systems without language borders
Current research in grammatical analysis and sociolinguistics points to two core characteristics of language that seem incommensurable at first sight: (1) research on linguistic structure indicates internal organisation and coherence, and the workings and interactions of distinct grammatical systems, but (2) sociolinguistic research suggests that language borders and bound “languages” are counterfactual social constructs that cannot capture the diversity and fluidity of actual language use. The application of Iron to open up new applications for bioresorbable implants is promising. However, modification of Iron is necessary to adjust the required properties. Alloying with Manganese improves the mechanical performance and increases the degradation rate. Further acceleration of degradation can be adjusting electrochemically noble phases to force the anodic dissolution of the Iron-based matrix. Since Silver and Iron are insoluble in each other, Silver phases can exist in an unmodified Iron-Manganese matrix. Silver is biocompatible and provides an antibacterial effect. Techniques of Illusion
This book explores stage conjuring during its “golden age,” from about 1860 to 1910. This study provides close readings highlighting four paradigmatic illusions of the time that stand in for different kinds of illusions typical of stage magic in the “golden age” and analyses them within their cultural and media-historical context: “Pepper’s Ghost,” the archetypical mirror illusion; “The Vanishing Lady,” staging a teleportation in a time of a dizzying acceleration of transport; “the levitation,” simulating weightlessness with the help of an extended steel machinery; and “The Second Sight,” a mind-reading illusion using up-to-date communication technologies. These close readings are completed by writings focusing on visual media and expanding the scope backwards and forwards in time, roughly to 1800 and to 2000. This exploration will be of great interest to students and scholars in theatre and performance studies.

Im Mai 2015 fand zum zweiten Mal die Tagung „Cloudspeicher im Hochschuleinsatz“ an der Technischen Universität Berlin statt. Das Interesse an diesem Thema ist weiterhin ungebrochen, die bisher diskutierten Aspekte wie Skalierbarkeit, Datenschutz und Datensicherheit, etc. werden im Zuge der fortschreitenden Einführung von Cloudspeichersystemen ergänzt um Fragen der hochschulübergreifenden Kooperation oder der Integration in vorhandene Infrastrukturen. Dieser Band versammelt die Beiträge der Tagung die am 7. und 8. Mai 2015 an der TU-Berlin stattfand. In 2015 the second conference „Cloud Storage Deployment in Academics“ took place. Interest regarding this issue was again high and topics established in 2014 like data security and scalability were complemented by new ones like federations or technical integration in existing infrastructures. This is caused by the advances in the establishment of cloud-based storage systems.
