The studies gathered in this volume were elaborated in the framework of the research seminar of the Master in Latin American Interdisciplinary Studies of the Freie Universität Berlin, entitled "Desigualdades sociales, derecho y política", directed by Sérgio Costa, Manuel Góngora Mera and Guilherme Leite Gonçalves between April 2013 and March 2014. Preliminary versions of these texts were presented at the workshop "Derecho en América Latina: ¿corrector o (re)productor de desigualdades?", on February 14 and 15, 2014 at the Lateinamerika-Institut of the Freie Universität Berlin. The six selected case studies analyze some of the limits of the right to significantly correct certain social inequalities in Latin America, despite their transformative potential. In particular, the cases illustrate restrictions in the correction of ethnic, gender, class and national origin inequalities.
