Statistisch gesehen sind wir alle von Süchten betroffen – wenn nicht selbst, so im Familien- oder Freundeskreis. Der eine verspürt einen unwiderstehlichen Drang, mehrfach am Tag Nikotin zu inhalieren; andere können nicht auf Schokolade, Sport oder Facebook verzichten; der nächste braucht abends zwei Gläser Wein zum Entspannen. "Richtig süchtig" erscheinen uns jedoch meist nur die anderen; wir selbst haben einfach eine menschliche Schwäche, ein liebenswertes Laster. Wann aber wird aus einer schlechten Angewohnheit eine Krankheit? Und kann man überhaupt süchtig sein nach Facebook, Sport, Essen oder Kaffee? Obwohl sich die Wirkweisen von Drogen zum Teil unterscheiden, finden Forscher zwischen verschiedenen Süchten viele Gemeinsamkeiten. Das gilt für die neurobiologischen Mechanismen ebenso wie für die Denk- und Verhaltensmuster der Betroffenen: das unwiderstehliche Verlangen danach, die verminderte Kontrolle über das Verhalten, der eingeengte Handlungsspielraum – hier regiert König Sucht. Island Landscapes
Island Landscapes takes a critical look at the evolution of European islandscapes and seascapes to examine the conditions facing them in the twenty first century. Considering island landscapes as an expression of European culture, this book envisages future trends and presents clearly the need to find a balance between preservation and development to ensure sustainability. Both large and small islands are illustrated in the book including the British Isles, Malta and Cyprus as well as archipelagos in Norway, Italy and Greece. Their unique identities and values reveal the remarkable breadth of cultural heritage possessed by these diverse European islands. An interdisciplinary approach is applied to the history, perception, characterisation and planning of islandscape and seascape in Europe, to support culturally-oriented strategies for these fragile landscapes.

Il primo numero della rivista è stato pubblicato nel 1990 all’interno della collana “Studi di letteratura Ispanoamericana” diretta dal prof. Giuseppe Bellini dell’Università degli Studi di Milano. Dal fascicolo n. 9/2000 è rivista del Dipartimento di Scienze Linguistiche dell’Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore sotto la Direzione del prof. Dante Liano, Ordinario di Lingua e letterature ispanoamericane nella medesima Università. «Centroamericana» tratta temi legati alla lingua, alla letteratura e alla cultura dei paesi del Centro America e delle Antille. Esce con due fascicoli all’anno. A partire dal dodicesimo volume, la rivista viene pubblicata presso il Servizio Editoriale di EDUCatt, l’Ente per il diritto allo studio dell’Università Cattolica.
