Discrete Mathematical Chemistry
Twenty-nine papers from the March 1998 workshop connect issues between chemistry, discrete mathematics, and computer science. Participants discussed theoretical problems of chemistry expressed by discrete mathematics, chemical graph algorithms, coding theory applied to chemistry, applications of discrete mathematics in the chemical industry, open problems and directions for research in discrete mathematical chemistry, and software for discrete mathematical chemistry. Specific topics include isomorphism rejection in structure generation programs, fast embeddings for planar molecular graphs, geometric symmetry and chemical equivalence, and numerical solution of the Laplace equation in chemical space. Constraint Programming and Large Scale Discrete Optimization

Mobile Networks and Computing

Set Theory
This volume presents the proceedings from the Mid-Atlantic Mathematical Logic Seminar (MAMLS) conference held in honor of Andras Hajnal at the DIMACS Center, Rutgers University (New Brunswick, NJ). Modeling Paradigms and Analysis of Disease Transmission Models
This volume stems from two DIMACS activities, the U.S.-Africa Advanced Study Institute and the DIMACS Workshop, both on Mathematical Modeling of Infectious Diseases in Africa, held in South Africa in the summer of 2007. It contains both tutorial papers and research papers. Students and researchers should find the papers on modeling and analyzing certain diseases currently affecting Africa very informative. In particular, they can learn basic principles of disease modeling and stability from the tutorial papers where continuous and discrete time models, optimal control, and stochastic features are introduced.
Robust Communication Networks: Interconnection and Survivability
This volume contains the proceedings of a DIMACS Workshop on Robust Communication Networks held as part of the Special Year on Networks. Theoreticians and practitioners presented papers on the roles of architectural interconnection and survivability in the design, construction, operation, and application of robust communication networks. Due to the advent of VSLI and fiber optics technologies, it has become possible and feasible to design and construct large scale, high performance, high speed wireline and wireless communication networks that are also robust. This opens many challenging issues and problems for both the theory community and practitioners. Of particular interest is how these technological advances lead the way to new and challenging mathematical frontiers and set the direction for future research on and implementation of robust communication networks.
